A marathon will have you taking somewhere between 30k and 40k strides, or impacts of a foot against the ground. Unless you have exceptionally smooth form, this will mean 30k to 40k cycles of the JB bouncing up and down with the distance of travel depending on running form. Nothing like stating the obvious. :)

One thing I have tried during basketball outings is to have a belt that supports my JB. It works pretty well and certainly limits the downward travel. For a marathon, the comfort of the belt would be very important to avoid chaffing and the like. For training, you might be able to use a belt with releasable clips on each end in order to allow installation/removal without your wife's required involvement.

I have found when trail running that I bought a underarmor baseball jock strap (with cup but do not use the cup). It is made of soft material and I am able to run with my Looker 03 which is heavier than a JB with no problems. Also it keeps the hasp from "Clicking" against the cage. The up and down, bouncing over the rocks and roots, it does a good job. Only 5k's but still a idea
I have finally found the device I needed to begin my journey in chastity. I have never been happier in my marriage to my wife, lover, soul mate and now Keyholder.

...and the running tights are probably a no no sans shorts.
Still in vaguely surprised every time I look down and see a wolfdog padlock there.

Training for a marathon, you're going to be increasing the distance of your long runs - that will be a perfect opportunity to see how it goes.

And, regardless how well it goes during training, I think you should be allowed to not wear it the day of the race. You'll invest a lot of training time (blood, sweat, and tears) training for a marathon, and the last thing you'd want to experience is discomfort from a chastity device on mile 19 that's bad enough to cause you to quit the race. And, thinking about it more, once your long runs get more than 12 miles or so, you should also be allowed out of the cage for your long training runs.

I'm thinking lube around the base ring, appropriate jock style underwear and lose running shorts?

I'm in the middle of training for a 50 miler and take it off for longer runs. My problem is that my balls try to pull up too tight and get red and sore after 5 miles or so. I haven't tried a jockstrap but may do so now. I'm considering ordering a longer gap for my jailbird to see if that helps. I'd be interested in hearing how things turn out.

I've nothing to add here but thanks for sharing tips; I've just signed up for a 12k trail run to get myself moving again, but depending on how the chastity goes I may have to negotiate time 'out'.

We're looking at a new device for longer wear, as the metal worxx is only comfortable for relatively short periods (but great fun for that time). Any particular recommendations/condemnations? The two on the current list are the cb6k and bon4L, based on reviews at UK sites.

On a different note, enjoy the run - I've completed several 10ks and one half marathon, which was a fantastic feeling.
Half of a couple into various kinds of BDSM, including tease & denial which is starting to include more chastity. Currently wearing Pipedream Metalworxx occasionally when instructed.

Qualities for which I'm internet famous, I'm sure.
There are some things that just don't mix well w/ wearing a chastity device, especially if it isn't the "perfect fit" or privacy is threatened
I could probably have put more time into crafting my essay, but the essential point is this: It's perfectly okay not to make the device the most important thing in your life. Yes, we're all looking for the magical device that can remain on while we make the trathlon time trials, go spelunking, paraglide, etc., but the *reality* is that most devices are simply unyielding plastic or metal tubes, supported by your underwear and some loose skin.

And look, I'm not saying that people shouldn't keep trying to find the perfect device, or stop modifying their devices, or anything like that. I'm just saying that my own life became easier when I stopped trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

You have a square peg? You will certainly have trouble finding the perfect fit with that.
