Every once in a while the question of "verification" comes up. Sometimes it's about Keyholders, sometimes it's about women, sometimes it's even about whether the guys are actually locked up.Rocky wrote:Tom, do you verify that they are really women? My wife has had bad online experiences with so called females verifying their gender even using methods to protect their real identity. She gave up on using the internet because she never knew who she was chatting with online. I only knew of one other site that verifies and as expected, most women do not verify.
Here's the thing: This is an internet forum. We try to run this forum in such a way that we are all adults having adult discussions, and acting like adults in our interactions with each other. But at the end of the day, it's an internet forum, and is subject to all of the issues that any other forum might have.
I know that there was one FLR forum that asked for verification, and went through great lengths to keep teh menz from reading certain forums. It didn't work out well for a number of reasons, some of which having to do with the childish attitudes of a number of the members. We - the mods and the other members here - try very hard to encourage honest and responsible communication.
We really do not have any way to keep men from posing as women in order to gain access to the KH forum. We do have 5 mods, 2 of whom are women, and we keep an eye on things. If someone seems "off" we check it out, and (like any other problem here) we deal with it accordingly. So far it hasn't been an issue. We can't guarantee that it never will be, however, so this is where all of the members have to make some decisions: how much (or little) information do you feel comfortable disclosing? How comfortable are you with discussing your kinks? How much do you trust anonymous strangers on the internet?
