In the EU there is a law, a fucking law on the shape of bananas. FFS!!!!! Talk about victimless crime!!!
Ummmmm...how does that work? Bananas are shaped by nature. What kind of law can one make regarding the natural growth of a plant?
That's the point, these toss pots all have jobs funded by taxes, and that is the best and most important thing they can come up with.... meanwhile here in the UK the acident and emergency rooms at hospitals are closing because we can't fund them.... Bananas are clearly more of a priority!

Are you sure you didn’t mean to say “meanwhile here in the USA”? Kidding, though it isn’t funny. Scary how two different styles of government can run so parallel when it comes to running the country into the ground. Don’t know why bananas become a priority in the UK, but here in the states a good lot of all the lunacy we see churned out as laws have some type of special interest (lobbyist) behind them.

A good portion of the laws that are on the books here in the states that relate to domestic violence were pushed through by women’s’ groups and they got a good head wind to help when the original “O.J.” trail heated up and then ended the way it did. I certainly am not railing against any laws that are in place to help the ones who are caught in the nightmare of domestic violence and really have no problem with being asked if an injury was sustained due to that horrid type of violence my beef is with the fact the ones asking may be predisposed to be biased when it comes to getting an answer that would reveal an injury was sustained through a kink style practice and we are at the mercy of the one asking.

I wasn’t upset by the “nurse-in-training” asking me if my husband was abuse, what set my teeth on edge over that, was the fact I had just explained what happened, how the books had fallen on me, she asked the question and quite frankly I’m not sure she would have let it go if it hadn’t been for the comment my doctor made. I can only imagine how she would have reacted if I had said the injury was the result of BDSM kink gone wrong. I'm not sure she would have had enough sense to evaluate what I was saying without letting her own emotions/judgment get involved.

I have a lot of conflicting feelings here
There's really no reason to feel conflicted; it’s your job to be alert to someone being hurt, just as it is the job of an officer responding to a call would need to ask. Domestic violence can be hard to spot even for even the most well trained “first responder/first line of defence” and God help me, I choke on the words of “this is a necessary evil” for the matter as a libertarian I have a lot of issues over how our civil liberties are being usurped in the name of “betterment for all ”. The opposite side of that is people who aren’t guilty of anything tend to get sucked into drama that shouldn’t be in the equation.

Going back to the fact this one doctor in a matter of just a few moments managed to add to the stigma of seeking medical help for a kink related injury is true bone of contention. I felt sorry for the man who asked the question because he didn’t get a decent answer and was shamed in the process of not being given a decent answer.

Like you, I’m concerned and sick to death of being nanny style legislated; no matter how many intrusive “picking away at civil liberties” laws passed, none of them will ever legislate the things that seem to be missing from the human food chain now days: common sense, intelligence and personal responsibility but being angry with a caregiver for asking if “someone did this” is like getting angry with the cashier at the market for the fact grocery prices are skyrocketing, be angry at egomaniacal over reaching law makers.

In most states ( may well be all states) here in the U.S. to not ask, even in the most obvious of circumstances could end up having them fired or at the very least brought up for review. You can thank O.J. for the current ‘nanny state’ domestic violence laws that go with making sure a person isn’t being abused by someone in their immediate family/friend circle. As much as I loathe the laws, they are a necessary evil; the daft aspect of these laws is the way they have been legislated has pretty much taken the capacity to assess the situation on a case-by-case context out of the hands of the care giver, so they have to treat every injury as a potential abuse grievance. It is maddening and then add the based on hyperbole reporting and just outright pejorative ignorance that in rampant in the medical community when it comes to “kinky people” and it is a nightmare waiting to happen for kinky people who do end up in the E.R.

Hopefully as time goes on some of the lunacy and damage being done by the likes of Mr. Penis Doc looking for his 15 minutes of fame, will be offset by more kink aware/friendly people like DocSwitch getting into the medical field.
You are my hero. :)
