Yesterday I started getting a lot of referrals (100+) to my blog from a site called www.kgforum.org so naturally, I had to go look at it. The site is Restriktive Foren: Das Forum für Keuschheitsgürtel, Fetisch & Bondage. Someone posted this question:

kgforum.org (it was once kgforum.de, but they moved it to an American provider because of some bizarre legal requirements in Germany) is probably the biggest German website dealing with chastity.

They also have large sections for other kinks (medical restraints, slave punishment, transgender, latex/rubber, diapers, corsets) and stories covering those kinks.

They have a much bigger userbase than, say, this site here. It possibly reflects the much more open mindset (as compared to the USA) in the European societies when it comes to sex in all its varieties.

OTOH, I don't know of anything in Europe that resembles the Folsom Street Fair.

Um, have you been on fetlife? It's huge. The userbase here is small because we are focused on only one kink. I actually rather like it; fetlife is impossible to keep up with.

Yeah, this particular forum is a bit self-limiting, since it tends to be more geared toward people who aren't specifically using MC in a BDSM context.

There are, however, other web forums that have much higher numbers.

That said, I have noticed that the really kinky stuff seems to originate in Germany

To make it clear, I did not want to sound descending about the American Way of Life when it comes to sex. But there seems to be a very puritan streak in the US that dominates public life. Think of "nipplegate". An "accident" like that would have been a kind of bruhaha in Austria, but no reason for contemplating new laws.
OTOH, America has given us Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler, Bizarre Magazine, Betty Page, Eric Kroll. That's probably the counter to the Puritanism.
And right in between, you have people like those posting here, or like Mick and Dee: http://www.luvbight.com. Smack in the middle of "God's own country".

Maybe it is the extremes that make your country so fascinating.

I would have to agree with kpb57. While many of us are not uptight Puritans here in the USA, as a whole I find the US to be far more uptight on the topic of sex and sexuality. Heck, you can walk down the street in many European cities and see an exposed breast on an advertisement. Here, many people would be very upset about it. And for what?!?! As a nation we need to relax a bit...IMHO.

Amen to that. You should live down here in the bible belt. It's downright nuts. Yet, we have the highest teen birth rate in the nation. The abstinence only education policy is not workin' too well for us. Then, there's Mardi Gras, where people go completely crazy sometimes. Then, it's back to puritanville.
