Plastic or metal?
I've had a number of people here tell me that I should go ahead and get a metal device since I'm apparently into chastity. But I need to know, how is a metal device better? I mean, the CB-2000 I'm currently wearing seems to do the job just fine, though I am going to acquire new devices soon enough. And I was wanting to know, why should I go with a metal device?

Custom ring? Well most plastic devices come with several rings and you're therefore less likely to screw up when ordering.
Integrated lock? Oh that's just great! So if the lock breaks, I have to have it specially replaced! And besides, just what is wrong with small padlocks anyway?
Durability? That's the first thing you've said which interests me. Having a CB that would last forever would be a good thing...
Possibly aesthetics? Well as it so happens, I'm currently interested in buying a plastic device that would match my collar. So possibly is correct as that's debatable...
Improved security? While not entirely necessary, I suppose that it may be considerable in the future...
Thank you for your input sir!

You already have a plastic device so sizing the rings shouldn't be too difficult, I would suggest starting with what you use now.
The integrated lock on my steelworxx has proven to be pretty durable. The "lock" part is actually just a locking cylinder and is not that expensive. A bit more than a master lock but not crazy expensive, I think it was about $20 when I priced them.
The biggest problem that I have with the small padlocks is that they aren't really that small. That is the one part that tended to stick out and create an unnatural bump under my shorts. The integrated lock is much more stream lined.
While having a CB that would last forever could be a good thing my concern is with the CB series splitting. I loved my CB-3000 but I sure am glad I didn't even know that it could split and cause some rather painful pinching while I was wearing it.
One other thing I would add to the list is comfort. This will be different for everyone but I find that the steel devices (the steelheart in particular) are more comfortable both because of the custom fit but also because I think the steel ring is just inherently more comfortable. Something about the smooth finish probably.
Good luck with your decision,

Re: Plastic or metal?
Alright! I think I've decided. I'm gonna go ahead and order the revamped Birdlock chastity device with my specifications in mind for now, as I've talked with the manufacturer and I know precisely what model I'd want. (2 inch ring with the mini sized tube as I'm a "grower") I recently read a review and the improvements definitely make it considerable at this point.
Though I won't rule out a steel device if it really catches my eye. (The Fort does look pretty nice and I've found a remodeled version that's not only superior, but cheaper!) Thank you for your help in this decision and I may get a metal device in the future as comfort is definitely going to become an issue when my Mistress has me locked up for months on end...

Re: Plastic or metal?
I've had and worn both. The plastic devices are okay, but the metal devices are better. The downside of the plastics are difficulty putting them on. I was constantly pinching myself. Not enough ventiliation inside the plastic tube which leads to hygiene issues. I just purchased my first metal device and find they are easier to put on, and are much more comfortable to wear. The problem is, as I am finding out, is getting the sizing exactly right. Once that's done, there will be no comparison. But they are about twice the price. I did not mention security, because it's all in your head anyway. You wear a device because your spouse wants you to and is willing to play the game. If you didn't want it on, you could get out of it.fonetik2003 wrote:I've had a number of people here tell me that I should go ahead and get a metal device since I'm apparently into chastity. Re: Plastic or metal?
In my very brief experience, metal is much better.
But for anyone considering ordering a metal device, I'd honestly recommend getting and living in one of the plastic CB devices simply in that it's a relatively inexpensive way for you to learn what rings, spacer, and tube dimensions might work for you before committing to the much more expensive custom metal devices.
From another post on this site, it seems that chastity aficionados, like as not, end up amassing a collection anyway. From this, I gather it's not just a kink but also a pastime like stamp collecting.
I don't think the birdlocked will help as much with sizing due to the stretchiness of silicone? (I have no experience with it.)

Re: Plastic or metal?
As a 7 or 8 year plastic user and now metal for about 2 month's I'll add, I don't want to go back to plastic.
Cleaning and keeping clean is so much easier.
With the custom sizing, no more flopping back-and-forth inside the tube. No more 45 degree turns inside the tube. The tube FITS. I have no movement.
With custom sizing, I no longer have to carry Q-Tips with me to line up the pee hole when I go to the bathroom.
My usage of lube around the base ring has almost gone.
THE MOST IMPORTANT - My KH loves the feel when she plays than with the plastic.
