This morning's unscheduled denial

At 8:34AM US Eastern this morning the site went down. The instance we are running it on stopped responding, to the point that it had to be stopped and restarted. No access at all, not even through SSH.

I do not have root cause. Nor will I look for it. I'm chalking this up to a hosting provider glitch.

Nothing has been lost, we are back up and running in the state we were in before the site went down.

I have enabled daily snapshots on top of the backup we are already taking, so that in a worst case scenario, we can roll back to the previous day's snapshot. In that worst case scenario, we would lose all posts made after 1AM US Eastern of the day we are rolling back to. Let's hope it never comes to that.

Side note: The instance we are running on was created exactly one year ago, Nov 20 2018, and has been running ever since. The forum itself has been rebooted a few times during maintenance, but the instance had never been stopped entirely and restarted.

Odd coincidence that it should fail a year to the day, though not a year to the hour.
