A scientific discussion regarding sleep

Post by Chastelaxbro »

So I have browsed these forums for awhile but never really joined or posted until recently. But, there are a few things I want to discuss on a scientific level more than a casual chat. I have searched a little bit to try to find the answers, but never really found anything that satisfied my need to learn and be as informed as I can. I'll provide a little back story before the first question, but the second question does not require a back story.

Backstory #1 :When I first started in chastity, I had a lot of time sleeping through the night. Something I know is completely natural. I got to the point where I could sleep through the night without any issues and would move to the next smaller ring. I am currently working my way though sleeping with my new metal device. But I'm not having much luck. When I wake up due to morning wood, my bits are off color a little bit. But when I am flaccid, there is no issue at all.

Question #1: So when we get to the point where we can sleep the whole night through, there seems to be 2 main theories I've seen posted in this board. The first theory is that we simply get used to the pain in our sleep and we end up just sleeping through the pain. The second theory is that our body stops becoming aroused during our sleep. I've done a bit of research in this board but I have never found a place where someone can definitively support their decision. So I am calling out to everyone on the board who may have an answer to this to respond with your thoughts and if you know truly what the answer is.

Question #2: During my research of the previous topic, I've seen where people will swear that wearing tight underwear helps with sleeping through the night. So, with that being said, is there any reason why wearing tight underwear would help? I've worn tight underwear but I've never noticed a difference. So, to reiterate, is there any supporting evidence to suggest that wearing tight underwear helps you sleep through the night while in a cage?

I thank you in advance for your responses :)

Good Questions and here's my experience.

#1 - For the first couple of years when starting out in chastity I would be awoken by the usual attempted woody. Now, I seldom have any interruption when sleeping. It could be that I have finally achieved the ultimate fit of base ring and cage so I'm very comfortable throughout the night. Or, is it just that I'm more mature in age now and not aroused as easily?

#2 - I haven't worn underwear to bed since the 70's so I'm unable to advise you about "tightie whities". I do (as some others here have mentioned) use a second pillow placed between my knees which helps.
Happily secured since 4/2010 :-)
Have worn CB3000, CB6000s, MM Jail Bird & Watchful Mistress,
DHgate A271 & 273, DHgate Full Stainless Steel Belt & DHgate HT nub
Currently wearing A273

I find that placing the device through the fly of my boxers at night helps keep the balls from rubbing on my thighs at night. It also improves access, should my wife want to play at some point in the night. No real trouble with sleep related to the device.

I actually did try to do a scientific study on how my body is effected with nocturnal erections.I reasoned that the only way to be able to verify why my nighttime erections didn't bother me anymore was for them to be observed.

So, I stayed up all night waiting for the nighttime wood, it never came. The next day was a long one but I stayed awake determined to complete this experiment. Halfway through the second night, I fell asleep. I know because I was awakened with a nocturnal erection! Damn, when I catch up on my sleep I'm going to try again: I'll report back.

It has been my experience that the body does *not* stop becoming aroused. I think, to a point, one just gets accustomed to it and it does not cause one to awaken.

I say "to a point" because since my latest size reduction I usually max out at about five hours before getting woke up, occasionally only three hours. If I go take a leak, everything is fine and I can sleep for the rest of the night. If I try to ignore it, even if I am successful in reducing the erection (by trying to focus on something else) and going back to sleep I will be awakened again in about an hour and a half. Oddly, taking a leak causes them to reduce in short order, but failing to do so they are strangely persistent.

Currently, my best guess is that the mechanism of action is somehow related to the fullness of the bladder. Reducing fluid intake in the evening seems to result in longer sleep times.

If you aren't asleep, you don't get the nocturnal erection. I spent years working through nights, and sometimes going without sleep for several days and nights in a row (and for some years, while working three jobs to put myself through college, most of my sleep was on a couch in the library between classes...it was during this period that I had my one and only 'wet dream', having fallen asleep at work in a shared office  ).

Edit:

I have tried tight briefs, boxers and nothing- none of it seems to matter in regard to nocturnal erections, nor have I found a pillow between the legs to be useful for anything.

1) I think it is a bit of both. I definitely have been able get more used to the sensation, and I still have a morning wood in the cage, though it isn't at 100% either. When I've been wearing it regularly, my body simply doesn't fight being restricted as much. This is especially true when I go for longer than 4-5 days (which is by far the most common duration for me. I also stay in pretty much 24/7 when I'm locked, so there isn't any time out to "stretch" in between.

Side note: Everything goes back to 100% after a few days out.

2) I prefer looks boxers for sleeping. And I have tried a LOT of combinations.

(Yes, I realize that I'm doing little more than saving someone the search on wikipedia) :)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nocturnal ... tumescence

The cause of NPT is not known with certainty. Bancroft (2005) hypothesizes that the noradrenergic neurons of the locus ceruleus are inhibitory to penile erection, and that the cessation of their discharge that occurs during REM sleep may allow testosterone-related excitatory actions to manifest as NPT.[3]

Evidence supporting the possibility that a full bladder can stimulate an erection has existed for some time and is characterized as a 'reflex erection'.[citation needed] The nerves that control a man’s ability to have a reflex erection are located in the sacral nerves (S2-S4) of the spinal cord.[4] A full bladder is known to mildly stimulate nerves in the same region.

The possibility of a full bladder causing an erection, especially during sleep, is perhaps further supported by the beneficial physiological effect of an erection inhibiting urination, thereby helping to avoid nocturnal enuresis also known as the Bonfield effect.[citation needed]

True. I suffer from humor-impairment without having had at least a quart of good, strong coffee.

Currently testing out some Death Wish coffee and Valhalla Odinforce Blend. It's OK, but I don't think it's quite worth the price premium. Black Fly Roast is better ('For the Buzz that won't go away'). From a flavor standpoint, a pure Sumatra or Dark Magic is better.
