So my Jouet wears a MM Jail Bird and we like it, but without the screw it rotates too much, and once in the middle of the night he woke up with one ball out and one in. Needless to say, this was very painful. That night I had put a padlock on with a neck that was thinner than the screw. I definitely recommend a screw/tight fit for nighttime wear.

One thing I wish the MM did that our old, cheap-o device (from ebay or something as an intro before getting a better, more expensive one) was have two stabilizing studs on their side of the base ring that fit into the cage. This kept the two from rotating at all. I really dislike the screw after having our original padlock monogramed, but it's now pretty much just for short-term use.

Anyone have any ideas for good padlocks that work with a JB in the screw-hole? I've had very little luck finding one that is corrosion-resistant for longer use that doesn't get stuck when the curved part of the shank tries to make it through the screw hole. So far we have a Wolfdog and an ABUS, neither of which are great and both have shanks/shackles that are too thin with too narrow of a bend to smoothly pass through the screw hole in the JB.

When I'm in the Jailbird, we mostly use the lock that came with the CB6000s in the security screw hole. It is a little smaller than the padlock we got from MM, and fits very nicely. I rounded off all the corners to eliminate snags. Every now and then I use some synthetic fishing reel oil to keep it working well.

You might be able to get this particular lock from keptforher.com

Good luck

Has anyone had problems with the lock causing noise by banging against the cage?

I have a screw in my Jailbird for that reason. The lock clicking on the tube was one of the worst parts about wearing a cb-x device. I used to put a band around the whole cage to secure the lock to it so it wouldn't move.

A little dab of superglue would have put a quick end to that.

I'm in a somewhat similar custom stainless steel device by MCN. I had the regular lock option, but ordered the security screw because I wanted to reduce the profile. The security screw did a great job in holding the assembly steady. Any difference between the lock hasp diameter and the locking post hole allowed me to wiggle the cage a bit. Just enough that with lube and much discomfort, I was able to get my smaller testicle out.

The security screw prevented that complete. Held nice and tight. But, it does lack the satisfying sudden sound of the lock clicking shut.

So, I ordered MCN's high security option. It's a security bolt, with a hole drilled through. It has a hex head that allows you to really tighten it down. It never came loose over the last week.

You use a numbered seal made of plastic and wire. The wire goes through the bolt and gets trapped in the plastic seal.

I found it fairly intuitive, adjustable and secure. The best part of the seal is the sound and feel of the "click". You don't get that with a security screw. It's highly secure, and verifiable... unlike locks or security screws.

From an emotional level, it really "hits home". I got a huge rush snapping it shut.

My JB has the security screw. A padlock allows the cage to move in relation to the base ring. The security screw holds without any flex or wobble. Those little padlocks are very easy to cut off or find keys that fit. I think both are about the same in relation to security. The screw doesn't rattle against the cage. I like the screw better. I've tried both.

I'm with you Tame Lion. The security screw takes much longer to fit needs the key to lock, so in both respects it's not as good as a padlock. However, it's far better for longer use as it holds the cage in place tightly and is less visible.

Right now we are using a security screw and a plastic one time use security tag.
