Yet another mod to B4M

I've been wearing the Bon4M with the modified solid ring pretty consistently, but have been attracted to the idea of a security screw. Something about being BOLTED in, VS just a padlock strikes me as sexier. No lock flopping around to pinch and rattle. I had made a screw pin out of what I thought was stainless a while back, but it rusted. So I went at it again last week, made a new pin out of a discarded stainless bolt, tapped it to take a 10-32 screw, and polished. There's a hole through part way back to take a small pin that I insert while tightening the screw so that it can't work loose. Stainless Torx with a pin security screws are on the way. I just have to turn over any of the driver bits that fit to my wife. Nice and snug, no shifting.

I saw a picture of a B4M that had been polished, and I really liked the look. We refer to this as my "jewelery" anyway, so while it was off I buffed everything to a nice bright shine. I like it. Nicer than the brushed finish, and much more interesting than plastic (though the HT is still the most comfortable).

Hey, I can't play with myself, and she isn't always interested, so I have to play with something, right?

The security screws arrived today. I need to turn the bit into a key, but have handed the bits over to my wife. I can't find a more secure screw with a unique head at a reasonable price. This will do for now....

What kind of head is it? Security torx or Alan or what? If your really brave, there is a one way slotted screw.

Things came together this weekend. The tamper resistant screws arrived yesterday with the special Torx bit, and the security stickers arrived today. So I took a little time to make "keys" to hold the bit. One is hers, thinner than the shown one below, without the knob but with a hole for the chain to go through. She prefers to wear it because she says it's a reminder to her that I'm locked up and need attention. "Key" #2 is my safety key. That's now in a small can a bit smaller than a film can with a one use security sticker sealing the lid closed.

I was going to use a set screw or braze in a steel or brass holder, then I tried aluminum. Looks nice with a brushed finish, and no need for a set screw or anything else - the corners of the hex bit into the aluminum as I pressed it in place with an arbor press. Nice and snug, and I can get enough torque that the screw doesn't work loose.

Hey Fineline. I like what you've done very much. Been trying to figure out something that would eliminate the lock (bulky, easy to cut off or pick) and you're solution looks perfect. If you every had any thoughts about selling something like this - please let me know as I just don't have the skills or tools to pull it off but would very much like to have something exactly like what you did.

Sorry, not something that I want to get into - too much on my plate already, and I don't have the setup to do it on a production/commercial basis. You do need a lathe and some machine tool skills to do make the pins, but it can be done by a hobbiest. I don't mind if someone copies my idea though. Maybe you can convince Bon4 to do make the security screw locking pin as an accessory to the Bon4m.

Not as sleek as fineline's, but I just tapped the front pin of mine. I got a stainless pan head bolt long enough to go through and leave enough room for an acorn nut on the end. A little more tool involved in the putting it on and off, but that doesn't happen often anyway, not since the first week of last month.
