What lock do you use?

I'm trying to hunt down a coated padlock or figure a way that "little man" (monkey's penis) doesn't keep getting scratched by the brass lock we are currently using. We're using the one pictured in my avatar and to keep the noise level down we have a rubber band around it but that doesn't stop the bottom edges from running into little man while sleeping or when getting a bit chubby and squeezing through the bars... any ideas?

I found that the thick rubber bands they put around broccoli stalks works well. I've either held the lock down with it, or had one around the cages vents, and the other over the lock. I have a plastic coated one at the moment, but it's a bit bulky ,and makes the bulge more obvious. Ive been hoarding broccoli elastics as I await the new 6000s. Will see if the lower profile cage allows the thicker lock, or if I go back to whatever is flat, small and water resistant.

I still use the plastic covered padlock from my first cage (cb6000). Works fine with the metal cage im kept in now.

I took my brass lock down to my workshop and ground the edges on a bench grinder. Then polished the edges smooth. If you don't have access to a bench grinder a fine metal file will do just fine. Made a big difference. As for the metal banging against my CD, I had access to some heat shrink tubing that I cut to fit perfectly around the lock.

Just got my 6000s and found that the chubby plastic covered lock sits on top of the cock-head flare. That adds 3/4" of bulge in the pants, so I swapped it for a key ring, ring. Not locked as such, but secure and flat.

You can buy coated locks (heart shaped too!) on etsy, or you can buy latex paint at any hardware store like Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. just make sure you have the key hole and shackle area covered with tape when you go to paint it ( this could be a good T&D time) otherwise you never get the lock unlocked so you can play with your
cock when you desire.

One important item to consider is that the Jail Bird relies upon the padlock shaft matching the collar and stud hole diameters fairly closely. If you get a lock with a thin diameter shaft it will allow the basering and cock cage to rotate out of their optimal orientation excessively...which means the gap on one side might be sufficient to let a ball escape (the damn things have a mind of their own, and live to escape). Unlike the CB's, the only thing keeping everything in proper alignment is the lock shaft....there are no side pins.

Hmmm... sounds like the when we get the JB we will have to switch to the teenie bit bigger Master Lock I have... thanks. I'm going to look into either filling the edges or coating it in something. I think if it's coated it will keep it softer and quiet, rather than needing the rubber band!

For a coating, try finding "liquid electrical tape". It works great on electrical connections too....but makes a good, plastic, brush-on coating.

My Masterlock has been worn enough that the edges smoothed out on their own.
