I don't really view it as a curse personally... I mean sure in hindsight it's like "damn I/we wish I/we would have bought the better X when I/we started..." IF you like it. That's the key. Like even as good as custom fit devices like MM are, I'd find it hard to actually recommend one to a newby... if they don't like it that's a lot of money wasted vs like a CB 6k.

So I received the thing from Mr S. Leather and it's huge! I don't think it will be useful.
