Did my friends just out themselves to me?

I have a strange mental tug of war between wanting to know all these fun little details about everyone else's life and simultaneously recognizing it's none of my business. I just want to know the story; I don't want to tell anyone how to live it. Despite my intense curiousity, I know very little about my friends and acquaintances private lives. I don't ask questions, and in my desire not to appear to eager, I generally stay away from topics that might be reveletory. How odd, in hindsight. Anyway...

I was grabbing a quick lunch with two friends, who are married to each other. The missus of the couple was about to go on a weeklong business trip. She didn't seem all that thrilled about it and voiced her displeasure. I said 'Don't piss him off or he might change all the locks while you are gone." The reaction was instantaneous as two heads swivelled around to lock me in a momentary gaze. Then, the weak laughter as the subject was changed. Hours later it occurred to me that some locks are more important than others and where I meant the ones on the house, my friends might have a differnt idea of where locks go.

It did make me go hmmm.

Maybe...or maybe not. It could be that some time in the past they had an issue where one of them came home to find the locks changed. That's a pretty big leap to make on just a look and a laugh.

It is indeed a big leap, and in my heart of hearts I know this. But I do like to let my imagination run wild. On the other hand, who knows, not everyone in the world can be vanilla

I got kicked out of Scotland once, and when I went back, they'd changed the lochs. Same thing happened to me at a local deli.
