Mature Metal base rings

Post by DNelson2 »

Can anyone that's had a little experience with both a CB6K and a mature metal device share your thoughts about base ring sizes?

I've got a CB6K which fits fine with the 2" ring. I can get into the 1 7/8" ring if I'm totally relaxed/soft and it's fairly comfortable (feels quite snug), but erections are painful (especially at night), it feels like my testicles are being squeezed. I've tried a longer spacer, and it helps a little, but it's still not comfortable. The 2" ring is just a little bit loose once things settle down and shrink a bit.

So, the question is: any thoughts on which base ring size I should order with a MM Jailbird?

I would suggest you order the plastic rings from MM. These rings can help you with the base ring and the cage size.
MM base rings are narrower than the CB base rings. The fit may feel different.
Current device - MM Custom
Previous devices - CB2000, 3000, 6000, 6000s, Curve

DNelson2: I have just gone through a similar situation with my new MM Jail Bird, which has been sent back to Texas in order to be fitted with a slightly larger base ring. I had originally started in MC with a CB6000s purchased at a local neighborhood sex shop, and I had worn the one and 3/4 inch base ring. However, that size ring had always seemed to be a little too loose, and it was possible for me to "pull out" quite easily. I was completely unable to wear the next smaller size ring, of one and 1/2 inches. Next, I had purchased a Jail House steel CD, which came with three base rings. Of those, the one and 3/4 inch ring was slightly large, but the one and 1/2 ring was much too tight. So, when I had recently ordered my first custom made Stainless Steel CD, I had requested that MM "split the difference," and construct a base ring measuring one and 5/8 inches. When the Jail Bird finally arrived, I had confidently put it on, had given the key to my KH, and I did not anticipate having any difficulties in wearing it. That first experience in the new CD lasted for six days, until I was so swollen one early morning that I was forced to give up, and I had to use my emergency key. My account of that painful morning is told on the "Key Safe" thread, in the CF Marketplace forum. I then exchanged e-mails with Bill, the owner of MM, who wrote that "It sounds like your base ring is too small." So, my advice to you would be to definitely order the two inch ring, and possibly order a second ring of one and 7/8 inches, so that you will have two different rings available to you. I now plan to keep both rings, as well, when my Jail Bird returns.
Previously wore CB6000s, Jail House, and MM Jail Bird. Currently wearing My-Steel Total System hip belt.

I have the sizing rings, and without a cage, the 1 7/8" ring is tolerable, but maybe just a tiny bit on the snug side with an erection. The 2" ring is quite comfortable.

Thanks for the info Mike!

I've been debating ordering two rings, and hoping one of them works well "out of the box", but it might be better to just get it and see how it fits (and get a second ring later, if it turns out I need one). Luckily, I live in Texas as well so if I do have to send it back, at least the shipping delays won't be awful.

DNelson2,

I have two rings for my MM Jailbird also. My only mistake was that I only went with one in the beginning. When I ordered my second one I had to send the cage back for a proper fitting. MM's turn-a-round was great but I was without the CD for a little over a week. William also made a ring for me that was in between the 1 3/4" and 1 7/8". That 1mm did make a difference.

I went from a CB6000s to the JB and I found I really missed the width of the CB's base ring. I had William solder on a second base ring and today is day 7 with the double base ring and I love the feel. Rides very nicely and I like the little added weight.

It may take time (for me it was almost 2 months) but once you have it adjusted properly it will wear like it's not even there. Well worth the time to get it right.

Best of luck.
Happily secured since 4/2010 :-)

I would order two rings. Get one that you know will fit and one that is a little smaller. If the ring is tolerable without the cage on it will most likely be even more so with the cage on.

As time goes on I have found myself slowly progressing towards smaller and smaller rings. I started with a 1 7/8" ring (almost 48mm) then went to 1 3/4" (almost 45mm). Those were MM Jailbirds. Stayed there for a long time and then went to a Steelheart with a 44mm ring. Quickly went to a 42mm ring. I thought the 42mm might be my limit but ordered a 41mm ring just to try it. The 41mm ring ended up being 39.8mm when measured and I could only wear it for a day or two at a time at first. Now I wear it 24/7 and haven't been out of it for 68 days. I occasionally think about trying something a little smaller, either a true 39mm or even 38mm. It would be great during the day but I don't know if I could go through the night with it though. Also, at 38mm I might have to go with the bi-partite ring as I don't know if I could get it on otherwise. The 40mm I am in now is very difficult get on and I am pretty experienced with the process at this point. It takes the right combination of lube on the ring so it will slide and no lube on the head of the penis so I can get a hold of it to pull it through.

You slipped this in while I was posting. I totally agree on both your points. 1mm can make a big difference. I also like the larger diameter 8mm rings on the Steelworxx device more than I did the 1/4" on the Jailbird.

DNelson2: No, "the shipping delays won't be awful." Bill and his wife, Mistress MM, send everything by two-day Priority Mail, so the shipping time is very minimal. However, we still get anxious waiting for their package to arrive in the mail!
