Help Selecting Size of Base Ring for the Jail Bird device

Thank you again for your helpful suggestions. Yesterday I purchased a Bird Cage from Extreme Restraints for my husband. It's on sale there for $79, so I think it's an economical place to start. Thank you. Boiling it in water sounds like a good idea. It's bad enough having to wash all the fruit I buy at the grocery store, so I can only imagine that these cages are not cleaned at the factory. If he has never worn a device before, the only problem you will likely contend with is some irritation and abrasion from the base ring around the scrotum. This is somewhat tender skin and takes some time to get used to the ring. I recommend short periods locked followed by a time out, then on to longer periods. Although I've never used it, I suspect Eros lube should be fine. I just use Aveeno moisturizing lotion. As far as the typical initial lockup time, it's different for every wearer. I'm sure he will let you know when he had had enough time in the cage the first few times. Actually, it is the base ring around the scrotum that will cause the most discomfort from time to time. As wearing time increases, the scrotum will become more used to the ring and will toughen up a bit. Let us know how it goes.

I use Carmex Healing lotion. They sell it at Walgreen's. My base ring has a very rough side that abrades my scrotum if dry, but with this, I can sleep overnight like a baby. Sometimes I have to re-apply the lotion several times.

To get an idea for base ring size, be creative. Pottern Barn sells curtain rods that have ring hangers that are very large gauge and have perfect polished finishes (this makes it more comfortable), and they are exactly 1.5" diameter. Home Depot sells stainless steel rings of various sizes, however, I usually find the welding poor, and any unpolished weld spots are going to cause irritation.
