make it cute

Post by curiouscat83 »

So, when I asked my girlfriend if there was any color or style she'd like to see for the cb-6000s I ordered (I was considering getting a full-size if she liked any of the colors especially; I just cracked a wood-grain I've had for a year), she said, "get a cute color!" We'd like pink! :P

So -- do you have any recommendations for painting a plastic device? Can I just take a can of spray-paint to it? Maybe plug the inside with newspaper or something, and then just spray the outside? Or would it need a base coat first?

Just investigating my options, but fun for her is fun for me! :D

I read somewhere else that you can use Rit (clothes) dye in red to color a CB6000(s) pink. According to what I read, if you leave it in long enough, it will become red, so you'll have to check it occasionally. I tried to color my 6000s, but all I could find (for clothing dye) was another brand, and the closest color at the time was dusty rose. Needless to say I gave it a try. I think I should have not added as much water. Bottom line is that the device has barely a hint of pink tint to it.

But, along with the write-up that I read, the author did have pictures of the one that he colored, and it looked good. The nice thing about the dye technique, is that the dye will actually soak into the plastic, and will not peel off, as paint would do.

I have a friend who's hobby is RC planes. He uses polycarbonate parts in the models. He said he paints his planes with a paint that is made to stick to polycorbonate. You should be able to find it at a hobby shop that sells RC equipment.

If you can't find one I found that Amazon sells it. $5.21 US

I could only find translucent red but maybe it would be a starting point to find pink.

Thanks for the tip. I'll be dyeing my home-made device in the very near future. It's a white poly tube and every attempt I've made to put a flesh coloured 'skin' on it has failed either immediately through comfort or hygiene or eventually through lack of durability.

Not familiar with Rit in the UK so will probably use Dylon.

For that, I think modeling paint would be your best bet. I'm not going to lie to you, it'll likely take some time. But what else are you gonna do? Orgasm? :D

Dylon failed miserably. Got some model paint and will paint it up the next time I am promoted back to my honour.

Thanks for the good suggestions -- time to see if I can find some model paint that'll do the trick in Manila!

Good point! I got a metal device on the way (MM Jail Bird), perhaps I should get some purple paint and do that for my Goddess! She loves purple and thinks it's pretty!

I'd look at getting it anodised.
