Cutting pins on a CB6000(s)?

Post by wettie »

So I bought the plastic lock for my cb6000s, and should have it tomorrow. I wanted it because I sometimes have to go through metal detectors for work, and because the metal lock can sometimes he seen through my pants, and is kind of sharp and pointy.

Anyway, once I install it, I think the pins on either side of it will be sticking out the furthest, and as far as I can see, there's no reason for them to he that long, so I was thinking about trimming them back.

Has anyone tried this, or can anyone think why this could cause problems?

Yes, in reverse on a CB3000 where you had to trim them to avoid getting speared (as they came out of the back of the ring) and no problem at all, in fact makes everything much neater. Only thing you have to watch for is if you may need to use a larger spacer at some time? But it's normally the other way round :-)

Yes, it's not a problem at all. I cut the posts on my 6000s using a pair of dikes (heavy wire cutters). Then used my Dremel tool and sandpaper to round off and smooth the edges. As always, measure twice (or three times, as in my case) before you cut. However, if you do cut too short, you can always order an extra piece.

Thanks for the tips, I cut them off last night and installed my new reusable plastic lock, which lowers the profile of the device substantially, and removes all pointy parts, allowing me to engage in my favorite activity, grinding against my wife's ass. Now it's completely frustrating, but that's what I signed up for.
