I agree with the sentiment to go with a stainless steel device. I used polycarbonate devices for a few years and have recently changed to a stainless steel birdcage clone. The difference is so much the only reason I would go back to the polycarbonate is if I had to go through airport security. Stainless steel is not only better against chafing, but with the steel devices being much more open, your skin is much less likely to get sweaty, sore or smelly. There's no need to take a steel device off for washing which is a must with the polycarbonate or silicone devices, which makes quite a difference to the feeling of being under control if you really can't take it off for extended periods.
