I've got a screw loose

Seems like at least every other day I have to tighten the security screw on my Jailbird. It inevitably comes a little loose and I got that minor rattle in the cage. Its a pain becomes it involves me sheepishly asking for the key just to tighten the cage for a second and promise I'm not up to anything nefarious. I usually tighten it up pretty good, just afraid of stripping the screw of course. Had the JB for about a year now and everything is great about it except this part. I'm very very active and move around all the day just seems odd the that is enough vibration to loose the screw enough.

Any tips on getting the screw not to loosen as much? Obviously not looking for dumb replies that would include a rivet or using JB weld, with wife enjoys my parts quite a bit thank you. Is it something as basic as a simple cleaning solution or what?

Cleaning the threads will help greatly but try putting the screw in from the opposite side . Body motion is working it loose and it will work tight in the other direction . Some one else mentioned using clear nail polish to keep screw tight recently also .

Some one else mentioned using clear nail polish to keep screw tight recently also .

If it works on my SS .44mag, it will certainly work on a cage.

Loc-tite: There are a number of different kinds now. Make sure you don't use the wrong one...unless you *want* it to be on *permanently*

We just clean the screw every now and again... A little bit of rubbing alcohol gets the dirt and body oils out of the threads.

I'm in a Queens Keep, but try putting the screw in from the other direction. Ours loosens after just a few days from left to right (my view) but from right to left, it stays tighter longer. The longest we've seen is 5 weeks........so far.

I just gave up on it this week and went back to the padlock. The security screw is not very secure. I could loosen it by jiggling the cage and then unscrewing it by hand. I even tried the spare screw and tightened it as tight as I could but it was loose the next day. MM has some ideas to try but I already went back and forth twice and am in the middle of a long term denial so I do not want to send it back.

I read all sorts of things to try but in the end, I hand tightened it as needed as some others do. The problem is due to putting a screw with a flat head into a round post. Very little of the head of the screw comes into contact with the metal post because it is rounded. You really need to countersink the hole so that the screw has more surface area to contact. I discussed this with MM and they were willing to try some things but it was going to be trial and error and I am tired of sending it back and forth. Plus we are only one month into a lengthy denial period, so now is not the time to experiment.

The main reason I went with the Screw is that the padlock has very sharp corners and it was cutting into my wife during sex. What we plan to do now is switch to the screw during sex and then go back to the padlock afterwards. The Screw is better for concealment too and it will not rip a hole in my underwear but I can always use the Screw as needed.

When I used to use a padlock, it had sharp edges, but I was able to file them smooth.

So in the end i cleaned out the threading with rubbing alcohol and a qtip. It was amazing how much grime came out, sweet and soap build up i assume. Then a tiny drop of clear polish on the end after it has been screwed on. The screw hasn't moved in a week the slightest bit. That of course means I'm still locked and she is getting all the orgasms right now. .....
