Adjusting the ball gap (steel cages only)

Post by less_is_more »

Here's a little hack for adjusting the ball gap on your steel cage. It allows you to increase or decrease the gap by about 2-3 mm.

Basically all you have to do is to bend the two pins and the center piece, where the lock sits. The stainless steel is pretty hard and difficult to file or grind, but surprisingly easy to bend.

The procedure is pretty easy, but you'll need a vice or strong pliers.

First, you have to convince your KH to let you out of the cage for the better, it's only for a few minutes, and you won't touch yourself, and afterwards the cage will even more securely contain her property.

Then you take cage and ring and dash to your man cave, where your mighty vice or big pliers are waiting.

In the next step you clamp one of the holding pins of the cage in the vice.

Now gently (!!!) bend the cage it in the desired direction. That's an easy hand job. In case you're not strong enough, use a screw driver as lever. Avoid bending it to the side. Bend the pin only a few degrees, better less than more.

Now the second pin.

Align both pins, they should be parallel.

Finally bend the center piece where usually the lock sit (hopefully at least 24/7).

Try to put the cage back in the ring. If it doesn't fit, you probably bent the pins somewhat sidewards. Correct your failing.

Dash back to your KH, say thank you, confess the various failings of craftsmanship you committed to her cage, get locked, maybe even spanked, etc etc.

Because you tweaked with the geometry of the system, she might have to wiggle a bit to get the lock in place. Be patient! It's your fault, not hers.

Try the new ball gap for a few hours or even days. Don't go on vacation in the meantime! Stay close to your vice, or take it with you wherever you go. Safety first! You want to avoid blue balls, or them slipping through cage and ring, or the cage falling off during family dinner.

I've adjusted my cage twice by now, and back-adjusted it once. The material still holds tight.

This is my cage: https://www.houseofdenial.com/collectio ... s107-small. I like it a lot!

On the pic you see that I used two pieces of soft wood. This is an advanced technique to avoid scratches. Nevertheless the material is so hard it's not really necessary.
