PA pain

Post by Rubysprisoner »

I have had my PA for many years although I haven't worn the piercing much for a while. It is fully healed and somewhere between 8 and 6 gauge.

With my new device I get quite sore at times, when I try to get hard in the the cage there is a lot of pressure on the one small point of the piercing. Some days are worse than others and bending forward also pulls a bit.

Will this settle over time as the area toughens up?

Does piercing gauge affect the amount of pain/pressure much? I'm using an 8g pin but could go up to a 6g now.

I found that 4 ga was the most comfortable when initially stretching because the cheese cutter effect went away for the most part. I liked 2 ga most of all but eventually converted to a apadravya when I reached 00 and started over. I have not used a retainer cage so can't make a recommendation but would agree a larger size may help with reducing the pain. Good luck.

Being at least gauge 4 is important. Also important and often overlooked is the set-back. The PA opening must line up with the locking pin. It can’t be too far forward or back from the tip of the cage. Some guys wear a 1/2 inch diameter ring, others a 5/8 etc. I wear a 7/8 inch diameter so most off the shelf PA friendly devices don’t work for me. I have to have one with the correct set-back or there will be pain, irritation and possible problems with the piercing. It’s important to keep as much stress and strain off the piercing as is possible.
