Chastity in the Middle Ages

The biggest thing for LRC was hot flashes. During this time there was no such thing as being close in bed. There were times that the sheets required daily changing. Trust me, when I say she got hot flashes they would have been better called furnace flashes. When she would have them I could hold my hand a couple of inches from the top of her head and could feel the heat. As you would expect these made her very edgy and I had to learn to sense when she was having one because a mood change, not a good one, would soon follow.

Just to throw something else out there. We saw the play, "Menopause, The Musical". This play is a comedy with four women talking about different phases of menopause that they each went through. It is written in a very humorous way. Many times my wife and I would look at each other while laughing because she had done the same things.

My wife started going into menopause early (and we weren't aware that it ran in the family, our decision to put off having kids would have been different if we had known). Then, after a few years of 'peri-menopause' as several Drs called it, she went overnight into full blown menopause- surgically induced. Three letters-> HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy). A tiny dose of estrogen and a larger dose of progesterone, all the hot flashes and mood swings cleared up, sex drive returned, and the fibromyalgia pain from which she had been suffering from for years is almost gone...AND, she was able to get off of the multitude of (expensive) drugs she had been on and did not need to go on the (horrendously more expensive) drugs her oncologist prescribed.

HRT- it's cheap and it works. It may not be right for *everyone* (talk to your Dr.) but it has helped many.
