I don't think it's a matter of "earning" it, to me, metal just seems more 'real' than plastic. It's a mental thing- stainless steel is more 'solid' and you know that you can't just crack it open with a large pair of pliers. But, the CB-xxxx plastic models are good for working out sizing issues before dropping a whole lot of dough on custom metal, due to the variety of ring sizes and spacers that come with them.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I hope the one I ordered fits. He fears it may be too big, but at least we only dropped $25 on it. It should arrive any day and we are excited to try it on for size. I have to say the pricing is a bit overwhelming on the different devices. I am seeing them go as high as $1200 for a single device. It's too bad there are no stores with custom fitting, like the way we can get fitted for bras. For example, cheap disposable devices for fitting purposes, like the devices they use during our pap smears then throw away. It just seems that such pricey items should have better ways of ensuring the customer is satisfied with the fit.

search for McChastity, this has been discussed. I have seen happy meal toys that were as solid or more so than a CB-6000. Granted they are subsidized by some larger marketing campaign (usually a kids movie) but they still have to be pretty cheap.
