Everyone is different so I can only go by what has worked for me.

The cage diameter and length are the most important measurements to get right the first time. I used my time (months because I didn't think metal could feel any better. Boy was I wrong) in my CB6000s for both of these measurements. I went with the same diameter but shortened the length by a 1/2" on MM suggestion. I have since made modifications to shorten that up again and have now settled on what is best for me. I enjoy a restrictive confinement.

The base ring and gap size, at least with MM is an easy quick fix if for some reason you get it wrong. I have always recommended getting two base rings (if you can afford it). Order one that is one size just down from your CB ring (because the metal ring sits differently than the wider plastic ring) then order a spare that is the next size down from that. If you do need to make a modification in either the ring or gap size it's a $10.00 charge and the turn-a-round is pretty quick.

Bottom line, I would give it a good month or two with observing how you sit in the cage, then take into consideration how restrictive you want to feel. The JB and QK are very easy to keep clean so I wanted to be right up against the bars which gives me a nice secure feeling.

Good Luck

First, thanks this is really helpful. i'm actually planning on getting an MM QK so nice to hear you like your MM. Sorry to obseess about this whole fit thing, but your response above now raises questions about cage diameter and length. I have a very tight fit in the cb6ks and often I bulge out of the vents. I've tried using lubrication when putting it on, but have a hard time squeezing it all the way in so that my head is at the tip. I have also used the sock method and i have a hard time getting the sock out, and then taking the cage off after the sock method can be difficult due to sticking. I bought the sizing rings from MM and when i use the ring equivalent to the cb cage it slides on with little effort. I'm wondering if i am just getting a little swollen due to touching when putting on the CB. God this fit thing is tough!

I think this is the biggest problem that guys have when they are new to wearing a device. Just the excitement of thinking about it is enough to cause a little swelling. Start touching it and manipulating it and all hope is lost :) It took a long time and several devices before I got over that. I remember watching Thumpers videos early on and wondering how does he just casually work the ring and cage on without getting an erection. Good luck.

I totally agree with what Atone has said.

Crap, in the beginning all I had to do was look at my CD and I'de swell up.

Now, when my wife does let me out I look at it and say "Well are you going to do anything or just lie there"
