Been reading about shorter is better threads, I have always liked a small amount of room to grow, so I got one of Bass works semi custom units.
The one I got is a BS-13D, total cage length is 45 mm including 8mm gap and ring. For me its a very short cage really keeps me mashed in especially using the 4.5 inch urethra tube under it.
I have short "off the shelf" units and nubs but tend to squeeze out the sides of those but this one holds me much better.
Feels great, the urethra tube has a domed top on it that fits inside the head of the cage perfectly keeps everything lined up and after I opened the hole in the tube up to five mm's it flows great. New unit is surprisingly comfortable causing no issues with cage or tube really glad I ordered it, not sure I can give up my 34-R especially using the urethra tube in it but this one is much shorter and the diameter of the cage is smaller so it holds me very snugly in every way giving me new types of sensations.
Maybe shorter is better? it just has to be the right shorter one.

Re: New unit from bad ass works
Update: After few days had to remove unit, originally though it was just something trapped under ring, made really sore spot, now after several attempts trying to figure out if its the 6mm base ring or the 8mm gap causing the problem, will update if I get it figured out.

Re: New unit from bad ass works
Just to give an update: I am very surprised that moving the gap open by two mm's could make such a difference!
I decided shortly after making this post to adjust the gap, figured the unit had limited use anyway so why not see if I can make it better.
I adjusted the gap to ten mm from 8mm reinstalled the unit on myself and could swear I felt a difference immediately.
It's been close to 48 hrs with no issues, normally i would have started feeling it becoming sore, I didn't wait for the soreness I was already feeling to fade when I reinstalled it, to anxious I guess, but the soreness faded and has not returned since putting it back on.
Still unsure of the 6mm base ring, it definitely feels and acts different than my normal, bigger around, rings so I'll keep monitoring it and see if it's just something that takes getting used to.
Going to go for another day to make sure but WOW I had no idea.

This is very interesting. I’m still new to this so I’m still figuring out my ideal base ring size, and I’ve had a hunch that too small a gap is the root of some soreness underneath my scrotum. I will take this into consideration as I continue my search for the perfect cage.

I have several older units that - If I remember right - gave me the same feelings, I'm going to check the gap size and see what they are, just to see, I had never given much thought to gap size until now when I realized it would be pushing the base ring forwards as it pushed testies downwards if it was too tight. I had always just thought it was to keep testies from being squashed at the top between cage and ring.
If you haven't tried a curved base ring try one, it made a lot of difference for me, MHO.
Live and learn I guess. LOL
Definitely worth paying attention to.
