Thanks for the generous donations! Doing this once a year was a little ambitious. We have core contributors who keep the forum running, and THANK YOU for that.

On further thought: Maybe try BIGlittle. Have an ambitious donation drive for LocTober, then top up sometime spring with a smaller one that just makes sure we get to Loctober again.

Donations have been moved to our hosting account. We have 13 months of "runway" from here.

Is it Locktober? It's Locktober!

Rattling the tin to keep us funded for the next 18 months. That is roughly how it flows btw: Every 12 months, see what's left, top up so we get to 18. We have a comfortable 4 months before existing funds have been used up.

As always, all funds go to hosting. Admins do all their work pro bono.

Hey everybody - Locktober is almost over, and we are still a little shy of our funding goal. We don't take any advertising, and the admins still run this as an all-volunteer operation.

Not nagging, mind you. Just bringing it to your attention.

Thanks for everyone who helped! So, we now have 160 bucks, which keeps us running for not-quite 9 months. That means this idea of a large Locktober drive didn't work. No worries at all!

We can do another drive in spring, and instead of looking 18 months ahead, we look 9 months ahead - then do it again Locktober, also for 9 months ahead.

The current goal when you click on "Donations" is still at 18 months ahead.

At some point we may want to have a discussion about how valuable a bespoke forum still is in 2024. Reddit exists ... so does Discord.

It's that time of year again - Locktober! You get to stay locked for the next 31 days, and we rattle the tin.

We've had some generous donations outside of the last drive. The current goal would get us to Locktober 2025 with 3 months leeway.
