We had an intense evening of teasing (while caged) which resulted in my having numerous nocturnal erections with a ferocity that woke me up in tears more than once during the night. The next day, the underside of my scrotum was overly sensitive. I thought it was minor bruising from those ferocious erection attempts. However, that night, I was commenting to my wife and she helped me inspect and found two small water blisters under the base ring!
This is a first for us—and hopefully a last, given the discomfort. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a "ring too small" issue?
I have a matte-finished MCN product... Maybe I need to polish the inside of the base ring from matte to smooth? If anyone has thoughts or suggestions, please let me know. I've been uncaged for a couple of days now, healing, and I don't like it. Temptation is growing and may soon get the better of me.

Sounds like you have a bad case of ball burn. It is a common discomfort for guys who lock. You do need to stay unlocked for it to heal. I have the matte finish MCN Contender. It isn't the slight matte finish that is causing the problem.
First try adding some lotion or silicone lubricant to the area that is getting sore. That will help things slide around and may help calm down the irritation. Over time locked your skin should toughen up and get used to being behind steel. But it may take some time and more rounds of irritation. It can be maddening, especially when you want to be locked but have to heal.
If none of the above works, you may just need a slightly larger A-ring.

1) What is MCN? Got a link?
2) If you're so excited that you strain terrifically against the cage, then I'm sure your skin could become irritated. Using lotion and/or some padding (like a band aid?) in the future might help prevent the skin irritation.

Re: Blisters from nocturnal erections?
Thanks for the input. I'm happy to hear it's just a variation of ball burn. Blisters on the scrotum scared me a bit. As for keeping things slick during the day, I normally lotion after drying off from the shower. This was odd, since I've worn the device for weeks at a time before, but the one night seemed to be too much friction all on the same point. Good to hear the matte finish isn't the issue—I like the subtle look of matte over the bling of polished.
I'm in the MCN Adaptus. The cage is about 1/4" too long, but every other dimension is perfect. It also allows me to stand up at a urinal (provided I have a moment to adjust the barrel within the slide).

Re: Blisters from nocturnal erections?
You might try a slightly larger basering. I doubt it's the finish either.
I once got edema from a few hours of intense teasing, after a period of denial, wearing a tube device. It subsided very quickly after I removed it. I had worn it with zero issue for the prior week.
I attribute it to the incredibly intense teasing session.
I did end up changing to a slightly larger diameter. Mark was very helpful with that.
I've never gotten blisters in his Contender with his baserings. So I can't relate directly.
I have bought smaller baserings over time from him. He offers them for a reasonable charge.
Over time I find I needed less room, in base diameter and cage length.

Re: Blisters from nocturnal erections?
Thanks Peter_Rabit.
I have only good things to say about Mark as well. Everything is healed and fine, if not a little thicker and sturdier skin under the scrotum now. Our (short term) solution has been to remove the cage (but not the ring) after an intense teasing session. There is still a constraining feeling that is enough to wake me up, but no ball pulling. It seems to work for now. Hopefully my brain will finally clue in that nocturnal erections are not so much fun anymore. (It's been a few months, and that I still wake up 2-3 times a night, so my confidence level in my sub-conscious to get with the program is diminishing rapidly.)
Thanks everyone for your input. It's nice to have a real-world community to ask these types of questions.

Thanks for the link. The adaptus seems to be an exact knockoff of the Mature Metal Jailbird which I have.ManagedMan wrote:MCN is Male Chastity Now. http://malechastitynow.com/

I looked at the MCN site and I'm not seeing any information about the type of metal used. Am I missing it? Does anyone know? I know that Mature Metal uses surgical grade stainless steel.
It might be that the original poster is having an allergic reaction to a component in the metal.

Aarkey, the Adaptus isi a chinese knock off device as described on the MCN page. He just buys them and adapts them. But makes no secret of the origin. The main device of MCN is the Contender. I am also a Customer and love it. Here the description from the MCN page:Aarkey wrote: Thanks for the link. The adaptus seems to be an exact knockoff of the Mature Metal Jailbird which I have.

update: Cagedbird doesn't specify which device he has. I now get your point. If he has an adaptus it might be due to the lower quality metal...The Contender is made entirely by hand, constructed from 316L Stainless Steel.

Re: Blisters from nocturnal erections?
If it wasn't for nocturnal elections id probably stay locked up as much as possible. I just can't sleep with it on and then I have horrible nights and my nerves shoot up and my days are miserable. Longest I've gone was two bouts of 5 days. I tried to get a slightly larger a ring but it was the wrong style. So I only wear it now when I'm alone or when told by my gf which hasn't been much since my Lent streak but I think I'm due for a streak soon.
