We took the grandkids home yesterday morning. Ironically we had the opportunity to take a thirty minute detour home to help a friend who was cleaning out an old farmhouse. What a beautiful old farm house that was being restored. There was a spring that came from a small cave that provided the water for the house and farm. A stone silo sat across the road. The whole place was a relic of American agriculture. The new owner wanted the contents removed, take it all regardless of value, just clean it out. Mrs. G loves her antiques so needles to say we came home with a truck and small trailer loaded. We were there for 4 hours , It was an exhausting day.
The best part of the day came after supper. I got up from my chair to take my plate to the kitchen. I picked up hers also. She said I was such a sweet heart and would I fix her a bowl of sherbet.
I should mention that I have been dealing with a surgery related intestinal irritation. With that, the excessive predicted heat and the unknowns of our adventure I was unlocked at the moment.
Upon returning with her sherbet, she looks me intensely into my eyes and says:
I noticed the big bulge in the left leg of your bibs today. At one point I thought you had stuffed a sock down there to try and impress me. Then I realized that no it’s just how large you are. With all the time you spend scrunched up I had forgotten what an impressive package you have. It was nice to look at, I stared at it all day and you never noticed. Thank you for the treat and for getting me some sherbet.
I was speechless and could only say your welcome. We were both too tired for anything else. She did let me sleep unlocked. It’s good to be reminded of what morning wood feels like.
Spending the day with my love. Now that is a good life!
