Key Management and Choosing a Security Screw Over a Padlock

Post by nebman »

I see a lot of comments about guys carrying keys in a marked envelope for emergencies. Since I've become confident that my device is adjusted and I'm not subject to sudden intense pain, I'm frequently out of the house for long periods, miles away from a key. It really doesn't bother me.

*As far as medical emergencies or injuries, the risk is low, and the ER can cut the padlock in a jiffy if they have to.

*Once in my life (years before my chastity play) I've run into an unexpected metal detector - on a work assignment I had to deliver documents to a Federal Building and go through a corridor shared with a courtroom. As long as I know my schedule, the risk is near zero.

*I think we all have to be mentally prepared to share the information if confronted by unlikely circumstances. If detected, I'd just say I have a medical device, and can we go to a private room. The discussion should be limited to "this is a sex toy for a game with my wife". If there is an option to turn back, and return with the device removed, do that. Awkward situations can be corrected simply with the concise truth.

*There is probably something smart about not having all keys in your house in case of a fire or natural disaster. That said, a bolt cutter at Home Depot could serve as an emergency key. I may leave one in a marked envelope at my office several miles from my home.

Now, security screws are a totally different animal:

*I have a dozen Master locks all keyed the same that I bought with some bondage gear some years back. Easy to do, try someone like Extreme Restraints. It's easy to have a stash of keys locked at home, one that could be at my office, one that my wife keeps or hides.

*The Mature Metal Security screw comes with two keys, and you cannot get replacement keys. From what I can tell, you had better pay for a safety deposit box and keep one there. If the regular key gets lost, your device becomes risky to use when down to one key.

*An ER might have a heck of a time with a security screw. They'd have to cut up your expensive device.

I do sort of like the click of the padlock, but the security screw certainly would make the device more discreet.

What are your thoughts on key management, and the option of a security screw?

It is just strictly personal preference. The device is not noticeable under clothing whether you have the lock or security screw. That is just not an issue unless you wear tight clothing, then it will probably be seen with both the security screw or the lock. My KH just likes the lock and key concept.

I've tried both and prefer the security screw. It prevents any movement between the ring and the cage, and it avoids any problem with a padlock moving about. I have no idea where my KH has hidden the keys and I've taken the risk of going elsewhere with no emergency plan. That said, I will probably ask to change to the padlock when traveling alone.

W/we have just gone onto a security screw with the Contender because it is less clunky, more secure and i am being locked for much longer periods. The contender key is a modified hex key which could be made by machine shop in 2 minutes flat. This weekend i am cuttng down one of the two keys we have so it as small as a normal key and will carry it in a sealed pack for emergencies as i did the normal key. MsM also has a special wearable security key being made so she can have the "real thing" on Her necklace.

Still having difficulty getting back into 24/7/365 chastity since covid. Very tender old man skin under the scrotum damages easily. Trying an HT Mk5 nub now. Love the fact you can’t pull out of it, hope my skin toughens up.

I'm a huge fan of MCN's high security system - a custom made hex bolt with a thru-hole which takes a security seal made of plastic and steel wire. It snaps on with a satisfying finality like a padlock does. Much more satisfying than those thin plastic lock-out tags. The hex bolt can be used without the seal. It feels solid to install with a hex driver and does not wiggle free. The seal verifies you haven't snuck in with a key. In an real emergency, you don't need special tools - just a wire cutter and a standard hex. An ER could remove it.

It's a unique and inspired solution.

Lots of great comments I will have to sort through. Have been considering both the Mature Metal Jailbird and the Contender. Had been leaning toward MM, but I didn't fully appreciate / understand the Contender's optional lock system until now. Hmmmm....

I'm just about to order my contender, working out the final details. And I'm going to go with the security screw, as long as the KH can wear it around her neck, I will be all set. I like the padlock, but the idea of an open cage with a brass padlock makes me very nervous. :o

We tried both. I prefer (and so does Mrs. Lion) prefer the security screw. It holds the device together without any play. Much better in my opinion. As far as security goes; I don't care. She holds one special removal tool. The other is in a sealed container on my keyring. It's there in case of emergency. It is sealed with a numbered tamper-evident seal. All in all, it has worked out extremely well.
