Clips4sale article says chastity is "fetish of the year" and has surging popularity. ...though I doubt there's much science to the post.
it is kinda wild that mainstream amazon has over 2,000 of them available

Fetish of the year for 2025
Re: Fetish of the year for 2025
As somewhat of a strange obsession I routinely do counts on Amazon for the "number sold in last 30 days" for male chastity cages and it continues to rise, last year in the run up to Locktober Amazon was selling over 10,000 a month which I thought was pretty good. I did a count yesterday which is not reflecting any upcoming chastity event and to my surprise Amazon is selling 13,000 a month now! That means in the September time frame it will likely be 15-20k. Now I love male chastity and hope, heck even dream it will someday become main stream and we are seeing a push slowly in that direction. Recently though the new buyers (via demographic review are young and it makes me believe that this new generation is far more willing to use them then ever before. Changes in society especially the empowerment of young women, gender fluidity and the emasculation of young men are all positive factors in this new generation of buyers and wearers. Women appear to be taking on a controlling and dare I say "in-charge" role in relationships since they have already established themselves in the workplace as leaders. Young men of this same generation are also far more willing and in many cases eager to "give-up" more traditional roles in their relationship and go along with the desires (dare I say demands) of their female partners. The steady creep of chastity usage into everyday society is undeniable and more and more women are learning and embracing the benefits they see and hear from keeping their male partners in chastity. Young men are more willing it appears to go along with it and I sure hope the trend continues.

In my own case, the only reason I finally bought my device after decades of dreaming (I am not a Gen Zer, just an old wanker
) was a chance meeting (non sexual even) of a part time self KH locker (who is very much a Gen Zer). He was the first person I knew who locked up. He convinced me I needed to make the dream a locked reality. And here I am. Starting down the chastity path.

Those numbers: 10,000 and 13,000. Is that worldwide? Or just the US, UK, or Iceland or the Isle of Man? Interesting how the numbers have grown regardless.
I wonder if it will become mainstream as you mention, and perhaps I wonder what mainstream actually means?
A subject that anyone can just openly bring up in conversation as if they were just discussing a favourite band, recipe, or holiday destination?
I get the point you make the changes in society. I think that's very relevant. Empowerment of women and the emasculation of (particularly younger) men. Giving up traditional roles. All those points appear to be significant.
The steady creep of chastity indeed. Will it ever become so much the “normal thing” that we see signs such as:
Everything's better with a locked male. Better still with a nude, locked male.
Re: Fetish of the year for 2025
It's only for Amazon USA, no others. And of course you mention many other Amazon country specific sites that add to it not to mention those purchases from exclusive websites and local porn shops, I know of 3 shops in my area that carry them now. My idea of main stream is much as you describe, a lack of inhibitiin to address the use and wearing in a public environment. Moreover I would expect the topic to be discussed in schools in health and sex education classes for sure. That's where I believe it will lose its stigma and allow male chastity to be fully accepted.

A simple bullet vibrator is probably one of the most “mainstream” / vanilla sexual aids purchased by women and couples worldwide, and it’s still hit or miss as to how comfortable people are with discussing it, even in their friends groups. I think we’re still a very long way from chastity being openly acknowledged.
