I decided to "go metal" with Herbi and ordered him an S99 Steel cage, direct from the House of Denial website. It arrived promptly and looked good straight away. Strong and well made. Thinner bars than the Cobra so a more ventilated and easy to keep clean design (not that there had been any problems with the Cobra). Hinged ring might be easier to put on too. Immediately struck by how heavy it was. I weighed it. 147 grams.
Herbi knew nothing about it until I handed it to him and told him to put it on. The hinged ring was easier, but holding everything in position until it could be locked was more fiddly and skin got pinched until he got it right. It took about three attempts. Once on though, it fitted well and looked good. The diameter of the cage is slightly smaller than the Cobra and that suited him well. When fully flaccid there was sometimes a bit of space in the old cage. Not with the new one. He fills it nicely all the time. I chose the S99 also because of the slot at the end of the cage that is supposed to make peeing easier and that does seem to be the case.
It hasn't been off since and will stay on until his unlocking which is due on Wednesday. He's had no problems, peeing is easier, and he says it's comfortable enough but just heavy. The weight of it makes it swing and flop around a bit. He's said himself though that this is just something for him to get used to. He is much more aware of the steel cage both during the day and at night. The Cobra was so light and close-fitting that he forgot it was even there most of the time.
Advantages (compared to the Cobra that he's used to) are
a) Easy to keep clean
b) Peeing is easier and less messy
c) Smaller diameter holds his cock all round all of the time
d) Thinner bars mean his cock is more visible inside
e) Stronger than plastic. I don't think it's going to break.
Disadvantages
a) The weight
b) Movement (because of the weight) makes it a bit more disturbing to sleep
c) More fiddly to put on
On top of those things, the S99 requires more care when going about the day as it's not held as close to the body (probably because of the weight) and can get in the way when sitting down, lying down to sleep etc. Herbi is much more aware of it than he ever was of the Cobra and that might be both a good and a bad thing at the same time. Bad in that it's more awkward when doing things, even just walking, but good in that he never forgets it's there.

Re: HoD S99 First observations
My wife likes this type with the slot, as my cock is more visible, and also bulges out through the slot at the end and she can touch it more easily. I have the small and must say I don't notice the weight, maybe because the alternative (which I'm now wearing since Friday) is bigger and heavier.
Like Herbi I'm also very aware of it, most of the day I feel it, and that hasn't changed much over time. I have mentioned this, she just said "good, suffer".
Glad its not causing any problems, i experienced chafe and pinching from the hinge, maybe I got a bad one, anyway its great that HoD allowed me to exchange it.

Re: HoD S99 First observations
The slot has made peeing less messy so it was a good choice by Emmi for that reason. I find all of the gaps, not just the slot, are bigger than the Cobra so agree about bulging out. The smaller diameter means more contact/pressure all the time increasing my awareness of the cage, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that I am suffering as a result. I think I'll get used to the weight etc. And no chaffing or pinching so all good.Spaceman wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 4:51 pm My wife likes this type with the slot, as my cock is more visible, and also bulges out through the slot at the end and she can touch it more easily. Hang on a minute... . This is FLR! We've been living a FLR!

I have a similar cage made by Terrance. Probably came from the same Chinese factory.
Recently went to a smaller cage. I fill the cage up better. I also wear a strap to hold the cage next to my body.
This morning when I came home from work and was locking up, my testicular were more full than normal. After about 30 minutes, everything settled down and looked normal.

Slot openings are great. The style on the S99 is common on a lot of the cheap stainless steel cages, and one of my favorite designs as far as openings go. If your urethra isn't lined up, it's quick and easy to move it around with a Q-tip.
I also wear an elastic waist strap with stainless steel cages, in combination with the stocking method so I can actually squeeze into the cage rather than getting stuck halfway in with most of my skin spilling out around the back of the cage, in front of the ring.

Re: HoD S99 First observations
We had to pop out this afternoon to a couple of shops to pick up some things that we needed. Walking around the town, and stopping in a little park for a few minutes, then a drink at a cafe before heading home. I asked Herbi how it was and he said “How's what? Oh, the cage? It's fine. I'd sort of almost forgotten about it to be honest”.
So I said, “Forgotten about it like you do the Nub?”
He said, “Not forgotten about it as completely as that. I really could completely forget the Nub and not even be aware of wearing it.”
“And the steel?”
“Don't think I could even not be aware of it, but if I focus on something else, I can ignore it to the point of forgetting it, if that makes any sense. ”
I think it makes sense and it sounds like in less than a week, he's got used to it, or is well on the way to doing so. It will never be as unobtrusive as the Cobra Nub but if it's close, then that's good. I love the thing. Visually it's very pleasing and seeing it doing its job is reassuring. No worries with it at all. I can see this being a suitable long term cage but equally I can see the appeal of chopping and changing from time to time.
Agree about the slot opening too. It seems to be working for Herbs and is still fine and secure so no worries! Somehow the extra level of security of steel is nice!
