Rounding the inside "corners" of the tube and base ring makes a VERY significant improvement.

After doing some measurements. I'm not sure theres enough material on the much smaller 40mm ring. I would need to open it up 2 maybe 3mm to make it work. At that point the walls of the ring would be quite thin. I think cutting down the 45mm might be a better option. Anyone done this before?

Yep cut though the bottom of the ring, removed about 5-6mm closed up the gap, tig welded, ground and smoothed off.

Do we have any members that can do custom work like this. This ring is one of the egonomic styles.
