I did not know steelheart came in a shorter cage. Even so, does one still have to lube the head and/or use qtips to use the bathroom?

I don't lube inside the tube and I don't use qtips. I rinse it with antibacterial soap and water in the AM and then with just water in the PM and I shake out excess fluid during the day. At all times, it's drip-drying.

I don't do either. I sometimes use a qtip in the morning to dry out inside the end but not always.

When I pee I usually try to grab a little TP or paper towel to wipe off the end but I don't worry about that too much either.

ETA I follow the process that thumper outlines on his blog, it seems to work pretty well.

Which is to say, it's not all daisies and rainbows in there. Some days are worse that others, but it remains a tube you pee in and can get a little rank (I think this depends on how well I shake it out and even the kinds of things I eat). All I know is, when I go to bed at night, it does not stink. Nineteen days out of 20, it's pretty innocuous.

Thanks for the replies. I am quite interested in the steelheart now, knowing they have a shorter tube. The integrated lock is a definite bonus. I'll let you know what comes (bad pun) of it.

The integrated lock is really nice. It is still the one thing that sticks out but not by much. When I am only wearing underwear (boxer briefs) it pokes out and looks a little unnatural but I don't think it has ever shown while wearing normal street clothes. Same with the tube. On the rare occasion that my pants might get pulled tight around the tube the very slight bulge looks rather natural. I noticed a couple of times with the Jailbird that I could actually see the impression of the bars through the fabric. The only way anyone else would have been able to notice though is if they were staring rather intently, even then they probably would have no idea why it was like that.
