Does widening the gap mean bending the base ring?

Post by Betterthansmith »

So, I have a comfortable base ring and a comfortable :? MM cage...

I purchased from another user here another MM device - just a lockable ring...

The new device fits on the original base ring, however the gap is much smaller...

So here's the question... I want to widen the gap, however is the short answer that this is done by bending the post on the base ring. Ideally I'd not want to mess with that, and somehow change the angle of the connecting hole on the new device...

Does that make sense?   I can try posting some photos if not...

Thanks!

It makes sense. Don’t know the exact design you’re talking about but in general terms “yes”, to change the gap you need to bend “something” so the gap increases or decreases. That’s the advantage of s/s that you can actually do that. I’ve done it to several units but they’ve only been cheap ones so not sure it’s so wise with expensive ones. You can decrease the gap sometimes by “building up” one or both rings as needed too but increasing it usually means bending something.

After a year post covid of “freedom” I am trialing a good old HT V3 nub modified by me to have a glans ring so no pullout. Working well so far.
