I was just wondering you do not have to use the spacers if you do not have to?

No, i had a CB6000S as one of my first devices and i ended up without a spacer to create the correct gap.

After a year post covid of “freedom” I am trialing a good old HT V3 nub modified by me to have a glans ring so no pullout. Working well so far.

Same here because if I used the space I would not be able to lock the device

Think of it as a puzzle you can fit together in many different ways and none of them is wrong.
