Nylon won't snap - I think they actually posted a video of a car running over one of their devices - it deformed and sprang back.

You can however shave bits off a CC device.

I got a custom chastity ghost device. I had it made to fit me. I found it impossible to wear without significant work on my part. The device is printed by a public service 3D printing company. It's made from medical-grade nylon. The big problem with it is the finish. 3D printing leaves a "sandpaper" finish. It felt okay to the touch but irritated my tender area in no time.

When I contacted Lady Fox about this, she claimed no one else had this problem. When I reviewed the device on my blog, I found readers did have a problem. After lengthy correspondence she finally admitted they were looking for a way to get a smoother finish. She claims that the problem is cured. I'm not sure I believe her.

The device is larger than the Jail Bird. It has to be. Plastic is not as strong as stainless steel so more plastic must be used to make the device sturdy enough for wear. I think the design is terrific. The customization she did was excellent. There are some nice innovations. The cage locks on to the ring in such a way that the padlock can't move. Very nice.

Still, until I personally experience it I can suggest trying it. It took me hours to sandpaper the rough finish down to be smooth enough to where this device comfortably. I do wear it now and then and it's a great choice for travel.

Worth noting that you can easily redye the device, so if you do smooth off parts, you can then make it look good as new.

I ordered a custom Ghost from Custom Chastity. I had a hard time fitting it because their instructions for measuring our, to say the least, unclear. In any case when I got the device I discovered that it had a finish very much like sandpaper. Within a couple of hours of putting it on, I had raw, red spots on my penis and scrotum. When I contacted Lady Fox about this, she said other people don't have this problem.

We continue to exchange email. She finally admitted that other people had the same problem. She said that she was working with her husband to find a way to polish the devices before shipping. I spend a lot of time and energy sanding down the device I got so that it was smooth enough to wear. It's a lot of work. I can't recommend this device because of the bad finish.

The design itself is very good. It's lightweight and comfortable once you spend hours with sandpaper. By the way, the devices printed using a commercial 3D printing service. I'm pretty sure they use Shapeways.
