Re: Ring Size Difference With Weather

It took me a few days to figure out that I was having this issue as well. 45 mm was great for months, but started to get loose - especially as the day wore on, combined with the weight of the cage. Per my KH’s suggestion, I switched to a 40 mm. The difference was dramatic, as everything pulled in much closer. Then the temperature dropped and I was in varying degrees of (not the good kind of) agony.

I tried again for a few days, but it ended up causing some mild damage (especially as the cage was too small.) My KH stopped that immediately. The steel knock offs have been a great learning tool but their utility has run its course and I’ll be moving into a Contender soon.

It starts getting cold here in the UK in October and usually stays that way overall until March but cold here is ... cold and wet but seldom drops below -10 degrees C though wind chill can make it feel worse.

I have never noticed a significant difference in the fit of either my base rings or tubes.
