Ordering a MM jailbird from the UK - Customs charges.

Hi

Has anybody here in the UK bought a MM jailbird (or similar) recently? I was wondering how much import duty VAT ill have to pay.
Also how long did it take to come through the post?

Mine 2nd device arrived a few days ago, was just under 17 quid import tax. My 1st one got through without being taxed. It's a bit of a lottery.

How long did it take to ship? Ie from leaving MM to getting to you?

Can't remember exactly mate, felt like ages. In reality it was probably 4 or 5 weeks.

My tax was only 8 quid because the value on my parcel was lower then the true value.

From ordering to receiving it took mine exactly 6 weeks. Once it's been shipped email MM and ask for the tracking number.

Be aware though that it isn't really tracked so you may find that it will only update every 2 or 3 days and may appear stuck at a specific depot. Especially once it reaches the UK and customs get their grubby hands on it and try it on. But it will get to you even though it may not seem like it at the time.

What site do you use to track? USPS, Parcelforce, and Royal Mail don't seem to work.

Just to update in case anyone else looks up this thread - I was able to track the parcel using the Royal Mail website, but only about two weeks after it had been shipped (once it had reached the UK). It then took about five days to reach my local sorting office where I had to pay a £9.70 customs charge (+ a further £8 to the Royal Mail as a handling fee).
