Key cage

Post by ElaineC »

Hi everyone.

I'm looking for a simple metal tube I could slip an emergency key into, the key tied to the tube itself with a cable tie or something. The general idea would be to make access to the key possible but obvious. A good look at the key for replicating purposes would also be impossible without severing the cable tie. I think I saw something like this on Thumper's blog but can't find it again.

Many thanks for your help!

This is the one Thumper has.

I made one out of a piece of 1/2" copper tube that worked just as well although didn't look nearly as nice. I used a scrap piece of copper, a dremel tool, and a small drill bit. Total cost $0

There might be a picture of it somewhere on this board but I couldn't begin to find it.

That's the one thank you! A bit pricier than I thought but still more affordable than a piece of copper, dremel tool and bit drill :)

Thank you very much for the link.
