The sleep mode is in the receiver and works on movement, if the receiver hasn't moved/shaken at all for a short period it goes into sleep and needs a shake to wake it again. Not a problem when you are doing household chores or playing pool.
I mention playing pool as this was the last time we used the device. My wife challenged me to a game of pool but every time I lined up for a shot she would start shocking me.

My first device looked exactly like the one pictured in conorg's post. Different packaging and mine has internal rechargeable batteries. When I first turned on both the handheld transmitter and the collar receiver it worked fine. I then modified the strap to where I wanted it to fit and gave my wife a proper demonstration as to how it works. Sure enough a few weeks later I found myself in a position of very limited restraint with the receiver securely strapped beneath my balls. Satisfied with a few jolts to my nuts she said she would be back to check on me. Returning about 45 minutes later we discovered the receiver was no longer receiving.

Upon further investigation the next day I found that if I just left the receiver dormant for about 5-7 minutes it would turn off and no signal would be received from the transmitter. If I gave it a good shake it would "wake up" and be receiving commands from the transmitter. I was disappointed now knowing I would have to keep my body in some kind of motion at least every five minutes or so in order for this to work. Before scrapping the entire idea I took apart the receiver and found a small motion sensor switch on the pc board. I successfully soldered a wire bypassing the switch but it still needed to be in motion for it to work.

Going on Amazon I began my quest to find something that wouldn't shut off on it's own. After many asked questions to the sellers of numerous devices I found this one that works (no motion needed at all to keep activated) and was reasonably priced. Oh, another one of my criteria for the device was that it be easy to operate (didn't want it to be overly complicated thus frustrating my wife) and that I wasn't able to have access to the button on the receiver to turn it off (should I not be restrained it wouldn't serve the process if I could just shut it off myself). This device solves both of these items as it's very user friendly to operate and the button to turn it off is located in between the shock prongs so it's very difficult if worn properly to get your finger in there to hit it.

BTW, the vibrate is mild even on the highest intensity. There is no question tho that the shock will make you jump . . . ahem . . . if you can.

Got a question for you lot: I have procured one from DHGate that looks like the picture shared earlier. However it is quite chunky. In one of the few videos on the known sites the receiver looks slimmer. Has anyone found that one? (and at a reasonable price)
