How common is this?

Post by Lockedchef »

I know chastity is one of those things most people do not talk about in public. It seems to be that it is such a different and more mental kink than what most people are used to no one wants to admit they are into it. The thing is I work in the restaurant business and have for 15 years. Nearly every single day in my kitchen sex jokes, dick jokes, bedroom war stories, and every strange and sexually uncommon thing is mentioned or discussed.

Just today we were talking about people with trampling fetishes and pony play. Laughing our rears off and wondering what on earth leads to that. Some people admit to trying things, having that odd partner who wanted to do it, and even on the rare occasion admitting to liking it. My whole thinking is if few consenting adults want to get together, have a good time and they are not hurting or forcing someone into it, then who cares. Have a blast and more power to you for being open minded. So in all these years of strange depraved conversation never once has male chastity come into discussion.

Hell it would probably blow their minds that me, their great chef and leader who makes a living out of screaming at servers, making intern cooks cry and drop out of culinary school. and can break down a pig with a cleaver and a boning knife in minutes has his cock locked up right in front of them. Honestly I'm a big guy at 6'5" 250 pounds and play the role of alpha male quiet well. However you get me in the bedroom in front of my wife and whatever she says goes. Of course I would never admit to it or is it any of their business what my wife and I do.

So that just makes me think. Who else is like this that I have met? I just wonder how many guys are into this? Just how many units have companies like CB-X sold? 100s, 1,000s, but probably not a million though? You can get any one to admit to going into a sex shop, but ask them what they bought and you will probably only hear about some lotion or a "gag gift" they bought for a bridal shower. I guess it is more me trying to make myself feel normal and say to myself that it cant be that strange. Then again who wants to be normal anyway.

It's in my opinion that certain fetishes are starting to become somewhat mainstream, meaning that pretty much everyone has tried them one time or another (bondage being a good example). There are fetishes that haven't really met this level of acceptance yet, and I think MC fits into this category. But just because there isn't widespread knowledge of it doesn't mean it is "uncommon."

I think one of the reasons MC is not as well known as other fetishes is because there isn't an effective way of making good MC porn. Male chastity is as much a mental fetish as it is a physical one, and you can't portay that on camera. Plus, there is an unwritten rule that all (or most) porn scenes end with male ejaculation, which kinda doesn't work in the case of chastity and orgasm denial.

I think chastity is more prevalent that some would think. I think there is a decent amount of people out there practicing at least some form of it, whether it be for a few hours at a time or part of their day-in day-out lives.

Then again, like you said.... I could just be trying to convince myself that I'm closer to normal than I really am. :)

Lockedchef, Might just be that there are a large group of us that live a dominant lifestyle due to our work environment and this submissiveness we share with our KH helps balance things out.

I know I've attended sporting events with thousands of males and pondered the question. How many of you are "locked-up"?

I did see one woman once with a key around her necklace a couple years ago. Part of me wanted to run up to her and ask if that is what I thought it was for hoping to get some response, of course I didn't.

As far as the pornography end of it goes you see it way more then you use to though. Just look at the number of caption sites, tumblr blogs, and clips. Oddly enough 14 years ago here is where I first found out about male chastity http://thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/2e49wg/nut-case. Sure they were making fun of the whole thing but it caught my interest.

I guess that is the thing about it that "normal" people wouldn't get, what gets us off is not getting off.

I remember seeing a post of about a year ago that said that about 1 mill CB's have been sold by that time and probably another mill of knock offs, and that the custom companies probably only add a few hundred each a year to the mix.

Some years ago I tried to get numbers from several of the manufacturers or distributors, but everyone was pretty closed about what they sold. I think that I was able to make a rough guess at the time that about one million CBxxxx units had been sold.

I'm sure that the number is now in the several, perhaps tens of millions, based on the fact that several Chinese companies have invested in the tooling to make knock-offs. In US dollars, it probably costs between $5,000 to $25,000 to design and make up a molding die for a device. You'd want to make sure that you have enough of a market before investing in that, and I'm sure that whoever is making the knockoffs have done even more extensive research.

Add to that, the number of companies that are making other, similar products: Bon4, Birdlock, etc. Mature metal, Steelworks, and the rest of the higher-end device makers are probably not turning out tens of thousands, but I'm sure that they are turning out hundreds to low thousands when you add up the all-time sales figures. Also, AL Enterprises 9now called CB-X, I think) has been setting up promotional booths at various trade shows 9sex toys, adult entertainment, etc.)

Devices are showing up more frequently in non-mainstream porn (mainly femdom and BDSM related), and we have seen some mention on cable tv and online news over the last few years. At this point I'm sure that it's still more of a novelty, but it's no longer a secret kink. Chances are now that if you showed one around at a party, a couple of other people will have at least heard of them.

==========
Edit: I had to go back to look at some old notes, and on my post above I was off by a factor of ten. I had guesstimated at that time that over 100,000 units had been sold, not a million. Apparently my memory is now off by a factor of ten. It must be from having walked to school in my bare feet, uphill both ways.

So, with the Chinese knock-offs, the expended CB-X line, and the handful of smaller companies, the international sales have to be at least a million since 2000. That said, think about how many people have purchased several for themselves - a million units sold doesn't mean a million users.

When devices cost $500 and up, sales were way lower. Only committed men bought them. I think the CB2000 was the device that changed all that. It all depends on how you define chastity. I suspect that 90% of the devices end up in a drawer within a day or two of purchase. Of the remaining people, probably most practice short term chastity as a form of sex play.
I seriously doubt if over a million devices have been sold. Certainly, the Internet has made information more available and more people have tried out forced chastity. But like BDSM and more generalized bondage, this remains a fringe kink practiced by a small minority of kinky people.
More interesting to me is the nature of the men who do end up locked full time. I am an alpha male who is in charge in pretty much every area of my life. In my opinion, my desire to be locked up and give power to Mrs. Lion is a form of Ying/Yang. It is a power balance. It's also super exciting to me.

The CBs and other entry level devices would be a good estimate of how many people are aware of MC or have even tried it. Possibly some percentage have been given as gag gifts or were thrown in the trash or at the person suggesting its use. The number of higher end steel devices would be a good estimate of how many steady participants MC has. I wonder if the retail outlets would be less close mouthed than the manufacturers?

Also, I imagine exposure has been much greater thanks to internet porn. I think many regular viewers of internet porn might get tired of their favorite links and start clicking things just to see what they are. To me, the most interesting aspect of MC porn is the amount of attention given to the man in tease, denial, and ruined orgasm videos. Who in the non-MC or T&D world has had their love spend 15 or 30 minutes focused only on their cock?

I was wondering about this and did some searches a couple of weeks ago. I found this article http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/2459543/posts on freerepublic.com It says that an estimated 30,000 European men wear them. But the article also says that they are "very harmful" etc. Take it for what it's worth.
