Common Terms and Abbreviations

Post by Locked by LRC »

Many members encounter terms and abreviations they are unfamilar with in this Forum. Hopefully this will help them.

If you have something that you have a question about post it here and hopefully someone will be able to explain it. When it has been explained it will be added to the more permanent list. This will give a running commentary on how an explanation came about.

The explanations will be short and generic. The only objective is to enlighten you, not go in-depth.

Remember, we’re a global community. If you see something you’re not sure about, bring it up and it will be added here. For example, KG - German for chastity device.

Specific sellers won’t be mentioned, only the general product with a link.

Thank you Ms. M

I added VAT to the list. A while back there was a discussion on buying a device and someone was telling how a non-European person could avoid paying this tax. If someone remembers where this was at please let me know. I want to add the link to it here.

There is an explanation of the VAT, or Value Added Tax, on Wikipedia as follows: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value_added_tax

That's very good! I believe that all a non-European resident has to do to avoid paying the VAT is to provide a non-European address. The European CD manufacturers all seem to provide that option on their websites.

I found in other posts here that Steelwerks lets you register as a person that doesn't have to pay VAT. When you price their products you will see the non-VAT price. If I understand it right that's 18%.
Wow, in the USA we complain about a 6% to 8% sales tax, as we call it.

Hello:

I happen to work in International Business, and particularly, shipping. VAT should only be applied for commercial goods, not goods for personal use. If you should purchase anything within your own country, or outside, for personal use, VAT shouldn't be figured into your pricing. In saying this, local Customs can always tap into any sale, especially in the EU. Just buy from the US : )

We in the U.S. use inches and about the rest of the world uses metric. Because we are an international community I’ve added a link for calculating metric and inch conversions. It’s in the section Definitions as Calculator.

It will only do calculations in decimal but they have a chart below the calculator that has the decimal equivalents for inch fractions.

Before I get grief (with the reputation of some members) yes, I noted the irony of the host web site.

I have noticed that piercing is brought up sometimes. I don't have one and will admit I'm ignorant about these. I did some checks and think I have the descriptions right to add to the list. If anyone has better knowledge please let me know if they are right or if changes are needed.

PA – Prince Albert

Prince Albert – A penis piercing where a ring or curved barbell enters the penis near the fermium and exits through the urethra at the tip of the penis.

Frenulum, or Frenum. – The ridge on the underside of the penis that connects the shaft to the head.

Frenulum piercing – A piercing that pierces under the shaft, in the stretchy area that attaches the foreskin to the penis head. I think this can be done on uncircumcised men as well, HELP!

Guiche - pierces the base of the scrotum, between the legs and near the anus.
