I'll tell you, the one kind of traffic Dan can drive to your blog is the annoying Russian spammer type. I've deleted probably a hundred Russian link bombs from my Askimet trap today. You'd think eventually these guys would get tired of beating their heads against the wall...

On the other hand, I'm probably going to get something like 3 times my normal traffic today. Far, far more than I've ever seen before in a single day. So...yay for me, I guess. Interestingly enough, the forum doesn't seem to be getting anything like that kind of bump. The traffic for yesterday was higher than it's been, but not outside the normal fluctuation I've been seeing. We'll have to see how today pans out.

That's my experience too. I am just about to pass 1000 views for the day (so far) and still many hours left in the day, so I think I will easily top my previous high record. I am averaging about 68 views per hour and that seems to be pretty consistent since 9 am (when I first started keeping track).

The Savage Effect:


Dan mentioned my blog on his on November 4th and the big wave of visitors happened on the 5th (which was more than double my previous biggest day). Now, traffic seems to have settled into a pattern at least double what it was before. I'll be curious to see if it sticks.

Regarding the forum, there wasn't anything like the huge bump I got on the blog. The visitors are higher, but they were increasing day by day anyway. I'd say we *might* have about 20% more daily visitors here now because of Dan.

In any event, I thought it was interesting and a nice coda to the Savage kerfuffle.

My results are similar. Friday November 5th was the peak day but it's been steady ever since.

A week later, I am still getting visitors to the blog from the SLOG link. Three so far today, five yesterday, ten the day before. Total number of visitors, from SLOG, in a week: 450. Not bad at all!

We got almost 1500 hits on the 5th. It has settled back to our usual 300-400 hits per day now so we haven't seen much of a lasting effect. Oh well. Not bad for a blog less than 2 weeks old I guess. What kinda sucks is that they have tagged our blog as mature so it doesn't show up in wordpress searches or by clicking on tags. Oh well. I try not to get caught up in the stats anyway.
