What do You mean by "enclosed lock tab on cage"? Please post some pictures.

if you look at the enclosed lock option at Steelworxx, you will see that the tab for the lock is exposed. With some effort and pliers, you can break the tab which unlocks it. On my device I had the tab enclosed so that the only access to the lock mechanism was the key hole. Hope that makes sense.
