Love the forum? Donate a buck or two!

Hello happy forum members!

Until mid-2020, hosting costs for the forum have been coming out of the personal funds of the admin - first Thumper, then Schnoff.

I'd love to get some help with that. If you can spare a buck, or two, please consider donating. Any amount will really help.

There'll be a running total and a goal, so you can see how much has been raised. This forum costs USD 188/year - 180 for the host and 8 for the domain.

I appreciate your help! Thank you! ♥

How to donate anonymously

Your donation shows up in the Donors list under your forum name. If you don't want that: Simply log out of the forum and donate as a guest. You will not show up in the Donors list.

When you donate, because we go through Paypal, I will see your Paypal name and email. That's also true when you choose to pay with credit card only, without using a Paypal account. This goes only to me, Schnoff, and not to the rest of the admin team. That said, you may not want your name and email to be shown to me. I get it!

Easy Peasy: Create a Paypal Business account. It is free. You can even convert your existing account by clicking "Upgrade to a Business account" at https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/settings/, or sign up for a new Business account. Choose an email address you don't mind me seeing - hey email addresses are free at gmail and outlook and protonmail (for the truly paranoid), use anything you like. And set a Business name you are comfortable with. Paypal will still want your legal name and address so you can fund the account, and, crucially: I'll never see it. All I will see is the Business name and the email address you used.

What shows up on your credit card

If you are donating directly with a credit card, without using a PayPal account, you expect a charge from "paypal*securepack". The PayPal Business account used to receive donations has been set to a Business name of "Secure Packaging", to provide a measure of discretion.

Wow that was quick, thank you so much!
There's a donor list up top as well. If that's undesirable and we should hide it, please let me know.

Very odd. It just uses paypal on the backend. Sorry to hear you're having trouble. Did paypal give you an error message?

Edit: I just tried this with a credit card, without going through my Paypal account first - that worked. I'm not sure what's going on, I don't think it's on the forum side.

Tried again, twice. I input all the info, did not allow my computer to auto fill

Something went wrong

We couldn't process this donation. Please try again later, this could just be a temporary glitch.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If it makes you feel better: Looks like we're not alone with it.

Thank you, you guys are beyond generous! I am talking to the donation extension author to fix the donor list showing up as Yen and not being able to distinguish between AU$ and US$. Display issues aside, though, this is a huge help. This already pays for hosting for the rest of 2020.
