The ring is probably too small. Could be- I experimented last week-end with the smallest ring of the CB3k and had a similar issue. It's a shame there isn't a solid base ring out there which accepts the pins from the hinged ring devices, as our choice from DH Gate, etc, would dramatically increase, for those of us who dislike the hinge. I used JB Weld on a couple of rings for a CB3k, just at the bottom where the hinge is and extending a good bit to either side of the hinge. Looks ugly but works fine, no irritation. (The hinges had broken so I decided to experiment.)
