My big mistake was to go for a closed (steelheart) design, rather than an open one e.g. jailbird. It became a cleanliness issue for my wife, despite Thumper's excellent video on cleaning his steelheart.

I've Frankensteined a couple of Chinese cages, the stainless welds nicely. I usually use ER312 to weld it back together. I like the one piece ring, with the stem with flattened sides. I just cut the receivers off the cages and then weld it onto the new cage.. A little grinding, a little buffing and...

It's a shame there isn't a solid base ring out there which accepts the pins from the hinged ring devices, as our choice from DH Gate, etc, would dramatically increase, for those of us who dislike the hinge.

slave d: You most certainly can bend the cage/welds. I have done it with a few of these style devices. The welds are much stronger than you think. It's best to use pliers or even better, if you have access to a vise. Not too crazy about that ring on yours. A round solid ring is way more comfortable...
