I have the threaded hole and more often use a lock. It is "tight" and doesn't bounce, but as noted, will only sit sideways.

Agree, both my JB and PT have the screw option, but if my wife and I are not together, the lock is on. Can get smaller all-brass locks that aren't too bulky - all brass best to not damage threads.

ooops, sorry, make that a ksd-g3, not kgd. Not really necessary with the smaller cage base ring, but if the first cage is a little too wide, it works as a temp solution and/or test of a smaller diameter.
