Jailbird vs Birdcage

Post by LockedAway »

Compare and Contrast

I now have two ExtremeRestraints devices – a BirdCage and a JailHouse. I thought it might be interesting to compare the two.

The Birdcage is significantly longer (in fact I am going to contact them and see if they can shorten it by an inch or so) but tucks nicely between my legs whereas the Jailhouse sits fairly normally in my underwear.

The Jailhouse is made with fairly thick hoops which restrict access; the Birdcage construction makes it much easier to keep myself clean. The length of either is fine for daytimes, but the Jailhouse is fractionally too short to be really comfortable at night. The Jailhouse came with three rings, I am currently using the largest although I could do with one in between (47mm or 48mm would be ideal).

Jail House Bird Cage
Weight 4.3 oz (123g) 3.2 oz (90g)
Length 2 ¾" 68mm 4 ¾" 120mm
Diameter 1 3/8" 35mm 1 3/8" 35mm
Rings 2" 50mm
1 7/8" 45mm
1 5/8" 40mm 1 7/8" 45mm

Both of these devices are good for general day-to-day use but both could do with tweaking – I guess this is the price to pay for an off-the-shelf item rather than a custom made device. As they are both from the same company the rings are interchangeable, although for some reason the lock bar on the Jailhouse rings are 1/8" longer than on the Birdcage ring which makes them a slightly loose fit on both.

As a further comparison I also have a 'chrome chastity device' (http://www.bondara.co.uk/chrome-chastity-device), I am going to post a review on there for that item

Jailhouse vs. Birdcage, I think...

The Birdcage is looking good. Glad to see it made it across the Atlantic safely!

I know, he must be a porn star!

My poor husband...the Birdcage is 4" long and now he is in a 1 3/4" Watchful Mistress. You can imagine what he looked like in the BC! LOL.

hello,

What a fantastic review. I wish we had found this about a week ago. I surprised my wife with the delivery of the birdcage on New Years Eve. I wore it that day and I was freed that evening to sleep. I have been in the birdcage since the the afternoon of the 1st. I think the ring may be a bit too small for me @ 1.75 b/c I still experience soreness at the base of the testicals.

As for daily wearing, it is a bit too long IMO. While manageable, it is difficult to sit down and can be problematic as it iteracts with the inseam of my pants, it gets pulled forward and requires several adjustments during the day.

Also, I am fairly active with a group at the local gym, today was my first time being locked up, I thought I was going to get a reprieve for a couple of hours but that turned out to be wishful thinking. Anyway, I was nervous that despite my layering and other precations it would be noticeable (and it was) in certain stretching positions and other warm-up exercises but with all of my nervous scanning of the group no one seemed to be gazing at my crotch ... like they ever would ... funny how the mind can feed ones anxiety ... anyway, we ended up plaing some basketball and while I was aware of the device the entire time, there were only a few occasions when someone bumped it ... there was one play that I am certain my opponent got a good feel by accident and it was an oh-sh!t moment ... I just continued the play and hoped that he thought I was wearing a cup or had my phone in my pocket ... rumors may start but I would be surprised if anyone approaches me ... In short, I am happy with the look and enjoy the ability to achieve fuller erections (with a litte guidance down the curve) and I can remain active at the gym and in sports all while being secure, I haven't tried and don't plan to have an unauthorizd escape.

All that being said, we ordered the Jailbird and it should be here in the morning some time. I am bit apprehensive about the prospect of the smaller cage but am fully excited about the daily comfort and regular life compatability that the smaller device appear to offer. If anything, we will have fun having two good looking and mostly functional devices (should theJB work out at least as well as the BC)

I will try to post my experience w/ the JB if time allows

Thanks again for the review, it is fueling my optimism and antcipation for the JB!

Thanks for your story. What measurements did you order for the Jailbird?

my mistake... we ordered the JailHouse. Amazon had it for $100 vs $140 at healthy and active ... funny thing is that it was H&A's storefront on Amazon ... I love how easy it is to get kink and a cookbook and whatever else all from one place on the internets .. but i digress

anyway... the BC seems to be working just fine for a daily cage ..except its unreasonable length so we decided to give another off the shelf product from the same company a shot ... this will also alow a quick exchange of cages (physiological responce willing) limmiting my time unrestrained. This is our first go at this with a device and a "no earlier than" date (honor system, previously) and since getting over an initial comfort hurdle, i will not bore with the details as they are not important to this and our privacy... (i have received the o.k. to post insights about the products ... we really didn't talk about sharing our intmate details

I am just about on top of the bell shaped curve and definately fall in the first standard deviation (to the right) when it comes to size and I am a grower not a shower ... yet I seem to be showing a bit more (an inch?) inside the BC ... but fluctuations during the day cause minor discomfort and annoyance ... and when i do forget that I am wearin the BC and just plop down on a chair, I am quickly reminded of the extra length that is between my legs ... so ... in short (pun intended) like i said earlier i am eager to try the JAILHOUSE ... if I am lucky I will get a message to come home for lunch tomorrow :D or :o most likely :?: as we are lerning what this all is to us

I had never seen the jailhouse, looks good for $100. Is the gap adjustable? Looks like you could add spacers between the cage and the lock.

Glad you got over the comfort hurdle, that usually takes a fair bit of adjusting and adapting. As for showing a bit more while in the BC, part of that is getting used to it and it becoming the new normal. That took several months and a few different devices for me before I really "settled" in. Even now I am thinking I would like another cage that is 1/4" shorter as I almost always have a little room at the end. I wonder too if the weather affects it, maybe a little shorter through the cold months and then back to this one for the summer.

Good luck with the jailhouse,

-A

the call never came. I was looking forward to being set free for a little while even if it was just for a swap. my wife open the package and laughed a little at the shorter length and the heavier weight then realized that there were 3 rings in the box. I had to leave for a while tonight I hope she's awake when I get home ...

What a difference. The I thought I was comfortable in the BC ... turns out I was just bearing it. The JH may be a touch long still but just barely. The wider gap is allowing the boys to rest in a more natural position and handles contraction b/c of the temp much better. It definitely has less accessibility but the head is still easily teased. No time to elaborate right now but I did want to post a follow up
