DH Gate - another look

Post by Tom Allen »

Well, my A080 and the subsequent modifications didn't work out like I'd hoped, but I did discover some new devices available since I'd last looked through the DH Gate site over the summer.

Here's a device similar to the A080, but the rings have been rolled to be more flat, and the cuff has an integrated lock, and a shaped flat ring:

The C274-1

And here's a similarly sized device, but with a solid tube. Note the open cage end that would certainly be easier to keep clean than the CBxxxx style, or the Steelworks closed tube style.
The C272-1

Both are 304 stainless. In hunting down these devices, I ran across them elsewhere, and the sizes seem to be about the same as the A080 (1-5/16 inside diameter, and about 2-1/4" long in the cage (i.e., not counting the ring).

I'm pretty sure that these were not available 6 months ago, so I don't expect that anyone has tried these out. I don't see any reviews for them, which also makes me think that they are pretty new.

After a year post covid of “freedom” I am trialing a good old HT V3 nub modified by me to have a glans ring so no pullout. Working well so far.

I have the shorter version of the C272-1 without the ball separator at the bottom (CD098-1 on e_bay). So far I've been very pleased with it. The base ring is a bit undersized for the claimed measurement but not extraordinarily so. Just enough to make it difficult to easily remove it when locked. Fortunately the shape of the base ring is very nice as it fits the body very well for a comfortable fit even if the edges need rounded off a bit; I did this to mine with a Dremel.
I am lucky that the device I bought fits like a glove and is very comfortable for me even though I know it might not fit someone else. It also seems well made for an inexpensive item. Compared to my JB it is still not top tier quality but it is certainly within acceptable limits.

The integrated lock seems to work fine at keeping things in place without jangling, protruding or bouncing around. I was a bit leery about using a devise with locating pins as from my previous experience they can be tricky to put on and lock. This was improved on mine by sliding some small diameter clear plastic tube over the pins with just the ends sticking out. This also made it more rigid as a unit.

Is it as good as a custom device? Certainly not but it is much better than most other imported devices I purchased that were much more expensive (I paid $13 for mine on e_ay.)

ETA The base ring on this devise looks like it's probably MIM or even 3D printed DMLS. The contoured shape of the ring is different than the other devises I've had which were either welded stainless rod bent into a ring or even flattened rod. When I used a Dremel to smooth the edges of what is essentially a flat ring I also smoothed out the inside of the ring. The outside had been processed to a polished finish but the inside, though not "rough," was not as well finished. Usable but could have been better.

Thanks for linking to Ebay - the page seems to have more information about the device than DHGate. Maybe I'll see if I can find the above items on Ebay pages.

Did you get yours from the seller listed in your link?

That appears to be a ball spreader. While it's a cute idea, I really don't like the way it's executed. If I order one, my first item of business will be to cut it off and grind/polish down the weld. I can easily imagine it beging caught in the seam of my jeans or getting tangled with my underwear.

When I looked at the curved piece the first thing I thought of was that it would be a place where the sack could bunch up inside. Then, one quick stretch upwards and, hello I'm awake now!

Yes I did get it from that seller. They sell the same version with and without the ball spreader.

The 274 has a ring with spikes. And the gap between the base ring and spike ring looks like a reasonable size that would prevent ball slippage, back past the ring. So, it looks to me like the gap would be significantly larger without the spike ring and therefore slip off easily.

Any experience with these yet? Anyone?

The 276 comes without the spike security ring. The 272 that I have is the shorter version of the 276 and mine has a small enough gap that even my modest gonads haven't been able to escape. In fact, I think this may be one of the more secure devices regarding dangly parts that I've worn.
