Base Ring Sizing Methods

Post by groundedBird »

Hello everybody,
let me say first that I tried to search info into this sub-forum before posting but all my keywords (like base ring, sizing ring) have been rejected because too common :o . So apologies in advance if I'm asking something that has already been asked (most certainly it has been).

I want to upgrade from a Holy Trainer v2 Small with ring diameter of 45mm to a MCN Contender.

My sizing principle is: take the smallest diameter that is comfortable to wear for 24h/48h.

Methods known:

Chastity sizing rings. I know other shops sell these rings (not MCN) but I want to keep this as last option.

Comparison with the HTv2. Not possible as the 2 cages are totally different.

Thread method. When I bought the HTv2 I measured myself using this simple technique (wrapping my scrotum with an inelastic thread or shoe lace until a tight fit is achieved and then measure its length). It kind of worked, however I believe it is inappropriate for a custom metal device.

Plumbing metal/plastic rings. Mark from MCN has suggested to look for these in the DIY stores, which I did with no results (I'm not in USA or Europe and DIY here is not a big thing).

Jubilee Clip. This is the closest thing to a sizing ring I found in mt DIY store. It is obviously thinner and wider than a MCN ring, it would probably be more representative for a CB6000 ring, however it might do the trick: I was thinking to factor for the increased width (it is ~6mm wide) ordering a MCN base ring one size smaller than the size measured with the clip.

What do you think about the jubilee clip method? Any other idea from the chastity masters in here? :D

Try a craft/hobby store or internet site. Look for macramé products. They should have metal rings used for this craft.

The good news with MCN is that if you screw up the base ring sizing, they will resize it for only $20 USD (plus shipping, which may be expensive depending on where you are).

I too was on a 45mm ring in the HT. I went with a too small base ring of the contender and then ordered the 1-3/4" base ring afterwards. This one is fine for me. Mark says you cannot get a clue from a HT sized base ring and apply it on the contender. However I would go for it again. If it doesn't fit get yourself another base ring. I did the same as I am not in the US and can not ship stuff forwards and backwards due to customs and shipping cost.

Thanks for the suggestion, I found a lot of websites but overseas. Will keep my eyes open for any local store that might sell this stuff. Btw, I even did not know what macramé was until you posted

Yep, you're right. Just to understand a little more about your experience, what was the ring size you ordered initially? How would you describe the HT base ring fit between 1 and 5 where 1 is small, 3 is perfect and 5 is big?

Steel rings can also be found in marine hardware stores, leather crafting stores, and tack shops (stores that sell supplies for horses).

first ring i had ordered with the contender was 1-5/8 inch inner diameter (42mm). was fine during the day but since i am a grower i woke up EVERY HOUR with huge pain. had to go pee and walk around and could sleep for another 50 minutes... was unbareable after a few days.

the new ring is great during the day amazing. at night i still wake up at 3 am and then every 90 minutes or so but that is berable. ht 45mm also caused me pain at night. Believe i am slowly getting used to sleeping in the contender with less toilet breaks.

Have you tried ordering spare base rings to get a idea on a better size.

Your local sex toys store will have rings. Not for sizing but people buy them as a plain old cock ring. So ask for that.
